Abstract
INDONESIA:
Keterlibatan ayah (father involvement) dalam pengasuhan anak memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung perkembangan emosional, sosial, dan kognitif anak. Namun, dalam konteks budaya patriarki, peran ayah dalam pengasuhan sering kali masih terbatas sehingga berpotensi memengaruhi kualitas hubungan ayah dan anak (father–child relationship). Penelitian ini penting karena hubungan dan keterlibatan ayah menjadi salah satu faktor penting dalam perkembangan anak. Perspektif anak menjadi salah satu aspek penting yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sehingga menghindari potensi self claim dari ayah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat father–child relationship, tingkat father involvement, serta hubungan antara father–child relationship dan father involvement pada anak yang memiliki ayah di SDI Bani Hasyim Singosari Malang.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 153 anak usia sekolah dasar yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Skala Father–Child Relationship dan Skala Inventory of Father Involvement (IFI) yang diisi berdasarkan persepsi anak. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi nonparametrik Spearman’s Rho.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara father–child relationship dan father involvement. Meskipun arah hubungan bersifat positif, kekuatan korelasi tergolong sangat lemah dan tidak bermakna secara statistik. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa kualitas hubungan emosional antara ayah dan anak tidak selalu berkaitan secara langsung dengan tingkat keterlibatan ayah dalam pengasuhan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa persepsi anak terhadap kedekatan emosional dan keterlibatan ayah merupakan dua dimensi yang berbeda dan dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor kontekstual.

Father involvement in childrearing plays an important role in supporting children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development. However, within a patriarchal cultural context, fathers’ roles in childrearing are often limited, which may affect the quality of the father–child relationship. This research is important because the father's relationship and involvement are one of the important factors in child development. The child's perspective is one of the important aspects used in this research, thus avoiding potential self-claims from the father. This study aims to examine the level of father–child relationship, the level of father involvement, and the relationship between father–child
relationship and father involvement among children who have fathers at SDI Bani Hasyim Singosari, Malang.
This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 153 elementary school children selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Father–Child Relationship Scale and the Inventory of Father Involvement (IFI), which were completed based on the children’s perceptions. Data were analyzed using the nonparametric Spearman’s Rho correlation test.
The results indicate that there is no significant relationship between father–child relationship and father involvement. Although the direction of the relationship is positive, the strength of the correlation is very weak and statistically insignificant. These findings suggest that the quality of the emotional relationship between fathers and children is not
always directly associated with the level of fathers’ involvement in daily childrearing. This study emphasizes that children’s perceptions of emotional closeness and fathers’
involvement represent two distinct dimensions influenced by various contextual factors.
