Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Industrial paper mill wastewater contains cellulose substrates that are difficult to degrade, but can be hydrolysed by cellulolytic microorganisms. Cellulolytic bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens isolated from paper wastewater are beneficial as biofertilisers to enhance soil fertility and support plant growth. Both bacteria can stimulate nitrogen production, phosphate solubilisation, and IAA production, which can be used as biofertilisers on red chilli plants to reduce the use of chemical fertilisers. The objective of this study was to determine the potential of a mixture of Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens in fixing nitrogen, dissolving phosphate, producing Indole-3-Acetic Acid (IAA) hormone, and its impact on the growth of red chilli plants (Capsicum annuum L.) in vivo. This study is experimental in nature, using a completely randomised design with the application of biological fertiliser doses of 0, 15, 20, 25, and 30 ml per plant. The parameters of this study include bacteria as nitrogen fixers, phosphate solubilisers, IAA hormone producers, as well as plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, and dry weight. The study began with the preparation of bacterial growth media, purification of isolates, testing of bacterial associations, and preparation of mixed inoculum. This was followed by testing the bacteria's ability to fix nitrogen, solubilise phosphorus, and produce IAA hormone. The bacteria were suspended and tested on red chilli pepper seeds, followed by observations of the red chilli peppers. The results were analysed using SPSS v.26 software with the One-Way ANOVA method and Tukey's test.
