Types and processes of specialized register intertextuality in the Twitter movie enthusiast community: Discourse analysis

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi intertekstualitas yang terdapat dalam register khusus yang mkomunikasi digital dan diskursus berbasis komunitas di platform seperti Twitter, studi ini menyelidiki bagaimana bahasa dan referensi tertentu, seperti cuitan dan terminologi terkait film, dibentuk oleh elemen intertekstualitas dan paratekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tipe intertekstualitas dalam register ini dan menganalisis bagaimana mereka terbentuk serta berfungsi dalam membangun makna bersama di antara anggota komunitas. Menggunakan pendekatan eksploratif kualitatif, studi ini menerapkan analisis wacana dengan teori intertekstualitas oleh Julia Kristeva (1980) dan teori paratekstual oleh Jonathan Gray (2010) sebagai landasan teoritisnya. Data terdiri dari 21 cuitan dan postingan yang dikumpulkan dari komunitas "Movie Twitter", yang dipilih berdasarkan relevansinya dengan diskursus sinematik dan penggunaan register khusus berbahasa Inggris. Analisis mengungkapkan bahwa sebagian besar register menunjukkan intertekstualitas konvensional dan tidak langsung, didukung oleh elemen paratekstual seperti trailer, ulasan, dan teori penggemar yang membimbing atau membentuk interpretasi audiens. Praktik linguistik ini membantu memperkuat kontinuitas budaya dalam komunitas, memungkinkan pengguna untuk berpartisipasi dalam ruang interpretatif kolektif. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa register intertekstual tidak hanya meningkatkan kohesi diskursus tetapi juga berkontribusi pada keterlibatan audiens dan proses pembentukan makna. Studi ini merekomendasikan penelitian lebih lanjut tentang intertekstualitas dalam subkultur daring lainnya dan menyoroti pentingnya literasi digital dalam memahami komunikasi budaya.

This research discusses how intertextuality emerges in the use of specialized register by movie enthusiast communitiy on Twitter. As digital communication and community-based discussion culture evolve on social media platforms like Twitter, this study focuses on how language use, such as tweets and film terminology, is influenced by intertextual relationships and supporting elements outside the main text (paratexts). The aim is to identify forms of intertextuality in this register and to understand how these practices are formed and function in building a shared understanding among community members. By using an exploratory qualitative approach, this research applies discourse analysis based on the theory of intertextuality by Julia Kristeva (1980) and the theory of paratext by Jonathan Gray (2010) as the main theoretical framework. The analyzed data consists of 21 tweets and posts from the "Movie Twitter" community, which were selected due to their relevance to discussions about cinema and the use of a specialized register in English. The analysis results show that the majority of the language forms used contain conventional and indirect intertextuality, reinforced by paratextual elements such as trailers, film reviews, and fan theories. These elements help shape how the audience understands the texts and strengthen cultural continuity within the community. This practice creates a space for collective interpretation among users. The findings indicate that intertextual registers not only tighten the coherence of discourse but also play a crucial role in enhancing audience engagement and the process of meaning creation. This research also encourages further studies on intertextuality in other online communities, as well as emphasizes the importance of digital literacy in understanding the dynamics of contemporary cultural communication.

تستكشف هذه الدراسة التناص الموجود في السجلات المتخصصة التي يستخدمها مجتمع عشاق السينما على تويتر. مع النمو السريع للتواصل الرقمي والخطاب القائم على المجتمع على منصات مثل تويتر، تحقق هذه الدراسة في كيفية تشكيل اللغة والمراجع الخاصة—مثل الميمات، والتغريدات، والمصطلحات المتعلقة بالأفلام—من خلال عناصر التناص والنصوص المرافقة. تهدف الدراسة إلى تحديد الأنماط الشائعة للتناص داخل هذه السجلات وتحليل كيفية تشكيلها ووظيفتها في تعزيز المعنى المشترك بين أعضاء المجتمع. باستخدام نهج استكشافي نوعي، توظف هذه الدراسة تحليل الخطاب مع نظرية التناص لجوليا كريستيفا (1980) ونظرية النصوص المرافقة لجوناثان غراي (2010) كأساس نظري. تتكون البيانات من 21 تغريدة ومنشور تم جمعها من مجتمع "تويتر السينمائي"، والتي تم اختيارها بناءً على صلتها بالخطاب السينمائي واستخدامها للسجلات المتخصصة باللغة الإنجليزية. يكشف التحليل أن معظم السجلات تظهر تناصًا تقليديًا وغير مباشر، مدعومًا بعناصر نصوص مرافقة مثل الإعلانات التشويقية، والمراجعات، ونظريات المعجبين التي توجه أو تشكل تفسير الجمهور. تساعد هذه الممارسات اللغوية في تعزيز الاستمرارية الثقافية داخل المجتمع، مما يمكّن المستخدمين من المشاركة في مساحة تفسيرية جماعية. تشير النتائج إلى أن السجلات التناصية لا تعزز فقط تماسك الخطاب ولكنها تساهم أيضًا في تفاعل الجمهور وعملية بناء المعنى. توصي الدراسة بمزيد من البحث حول التناص في الثقافات الفرعية الأخرى على الإنترنت وتسلط الضوء على أهمية الثقافة الرقمية في فهم التواصل الثقافي.
