Abstract

INDONESIA:

Peningkatan global kasus Acne vulgaris sebesar 47,9%, disertai resistensi antibiotik pada bakteri penyebabnya seperti Propionibacterium acnes dan Staphylococcus epidermidis, mendorong pencarian alternatif pengobatan alami, yaitu biji kebiul (Caesalpinia bonduc (L.)). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak biji kebiul terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dan Staphylococcus epidermidis penyebab Acne vulgaris. Metode uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak biji kebiul menggunakan metode difusi cakram dengan media pertumbuhan Mueller Hinton Agar. Kelompok uji pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol positif klindamisin 1%, kontrol negatif aquadest, variasi konsentrasi ekstrak 10% b/v, 15% b/v, dan 20% b/v dengan pengulangan sebanyak 5 kali setiap kelompok uji berdasarkan rumus federer. Hasil rerata diameter zona hambat ekstrak biji kebiul pada bakteri Propionibacterium acnes yaitu didapatkan kontrol positif klindamisin 1% sebesar 23,59 mm; konsentrasi 10% b/v sebesar 1,04 mm; konsentrasi 15% b/v sebesar 5,23 mm; dan konsentrasi 20% b/v sebesar 2,86 mm, sedangkan rerata diameter zona hambat pada bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis yaitu didapatkan kontrol positif klindamisin 1% sebesar 6,84 mm; konsentrasi 10% b/v sebesar 0,87 mm; konsentrasi 15% b/v sebesar 1,38 mm; konsentrasi 20% b/v sebesar 1,55 mm. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik Kruskal Wallis dengan menggunakan aplikasi IBM SPSS Statistic 20 didapatkan bahwa adanya perbedaan bermakna antar kelompok uji dengan nilai p<0,05. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak biji kebiul memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dan Staphylococcus epidermidis dengan konsentrasi optimal pada pemberian ekstrak sebanyak 15% b/v.

ENGLISH:

The 47.9% global increase in Acne vulgaris cases, accompanied by antibiotic resistance in causative bacteria such as Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis, drives the search for alternative natural treatments, namely kebiul seeds (Caesalpinia bonduc (L.)). The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of kebiul seed extract against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis that caused Acne vulgaris. Antibacterial activity test method kebiul seed extract used disc diffusion method with Mueller Hinton Agar media. The test group in this study consisted of 5 groups that was positive control of clindamycin 1%, negative control of distilled water, variation of extract concentration of 10% b/v, 15% b/v, and 20% b/v with five repetition of each test group based on the federer formula. Average result diameter the zone of inhibition kebiul seed extract on Propionibacterium acnes
bacteria, was that in the positive control of clindamycin 1% concentration of 23.59 mm; 10% b/v concentration of 1.04 mm; 15% b/v concentration of 5.23 mm; and concentration of 20% b/v of 2.86 mm, while the average diameter of the inhibition zone in Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria, was that in the positive control of 1% clindamycin of 6.84 mm; concentration of 10% b/v of 0.87 mm; concentration of 15% b/v of 1.38 mm; concentration of 20% b/v of 1.55 mm. Based on the results of the Kruskal Wallis statistical test results using the IBM SPSS application Statistic 20 application, it was found that there was a significant difference between the test groups with a p-value<0.05. From the results of the study it can be concluded that kebiul seed extract has antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis with an optimal concentration of 15% b/v.
