The dynamics of bullying reality in the movie "From The Ashes": Teun A. Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis

ABSTRACT

Bullying is a social problem that often occurs, especially in educational settings. Bullying can have an impact on the victim's psychological condition, mental, physical, and emotional control. This research was conducted to describe the text structure, social cognition, and social context using Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis model in the movie “From The Ashes”. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data sources are divided into primary data sources in the form of the movie “From the Ashes” and secondary data sources, in the form of supporting data from several literature sources, journals, and materials from the internet related to the topic of study. This research uses the techniques of watching, reading, and taking notes to collect data. The analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study are: (1) The text structure consists of macro-structure elements in the form of themes raised, namely the issue of bullying, superstructure in the form of the plot of this film, and micro-structure focusing on semantic aspects, namely setting, details, and intent. (2) Social cognition that shows the director's views regarding social discourse in the Arab educational environment related to the issue of bullying and discipline in schools. (3) Social context that brings people's views that bullying cases in the educational environment, especially among teenagers, still occur.

ABSTRAK

Bullying merupakan masalah sosial yang sering terjadi terutama dalam lingkungan pendidikan. Bullying dapat berdampak pada kondisi psikologis, mental, fisik, dan kontrol emosional korban. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur teks, kognisi sosial, dan konteks sosial dalam model analisis wacana kritis Van Djik pada wacana film “From The Ashes”. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Adapun sumber data terbagi menjadi dua, yaitu sumber data primer berupa film “From the Ashes” dan sumber data sekunder berupa data pendukung dari beberapa sumber pustaka berupa jurnal dan media internet yang berkaitan dengan topik kajian. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik menonton, membaca, dan mencatat untuk mengumpulkan data. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian terdiri atas (1) struktur teks yang terdiri dari elemen struktur makro berupa tema yang diangkat yakni isu bullying, superstruktur berupa alur dari film ini, dan struktur mikro berfokus pada aspek semantik yakni latar, detil, dan maksud. (2) kognisi sosial yang menunjukkan pandangan sutradara terkait wacana sosial dalam lingkungan pendidikan di Arab terkait isu bullying dan kedisiplinan sekolah. (3) konteks sosial yang membawa pandangan Masyarakat bahwa kasus bullying di lingkungan pendidikan, terutama kalangan remaja yang masih banyak terjadi.

التنمر مشكلة اجتماعية شائعة، لا سيما في البيئات التعليمية. يمكن أن يؤثر التنمر على الحالة النفسية للضحية، وقدرته العقلية والجسدية والعاطفية. أُجري هذا البحث لوصف بنية النص، والإدراك الاجتماعي، والسياق الاجتماعي باستخدام نموذج تحليل الخطاب النقدي لفان ديك في فيلم "من الرماد". يستخدم هذا البحث منهجًا وصفيًا نوعيًا. تنقسم مصادر البيانات إلى مصادر بيانات أولية في شكل فيلم "من الرماد" ومصادر بيانات ثانوية، في شكل بيانات داعمة من العديد من المصادر الأدبية والمجلات والمواد من الإنترنت المتعلقة بموضوع الدراسة. يستخدم هذا البحث تقنيات المشاهدة والقراءة وتدوين الملاحظات لجمع البيانات. تقنيات التحليل المستخدمة هي اختزال البيانات، وعرض البيانات، والاستنتاج. نتائج هذه الدراسة هي: (1) يتكون هيكل النص من عناصر بنية كلية في شكل مواضيع مطروحة، وهي قضية التنمر، وبنية علوية في شكل حبكة هذا الفيلم، وبنية دقيقة تركز على الجوانب الدلالية، وهي الإعداد والتفاصيل والقصد. (2) الإدراك الاجتماعي الذي يوضح آراء المخرج حول الخطاب الاجتماعي في البيئة التعليمية العربية المتعلق بقضية التنمر والانضباط في المدارس. (3) السياق الاجتماعي الذي يوضح آراء الناس بأن حالات التنمر في البيئة التعليمية وخاصة بين المراهقين لا تزال تحدث.
