Abstract

ABSTRACT

Tintem Abbey, I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, Three Years She Grow and Shower, To My Sister, The World is Too Much with Us, and Ode an Intimations of Immortality from Recollection of early Childhood are the poems that the writer has taken as tire main data, because they represent the influence of naturalism that is used as the main theme. The writer analyzes these poems based on the natural interpretation, the poetic words related to the natural words, and naturalism theory and concept applied in the poems.

The genetic structuralism in the form of descriptive qualitative method is used to conduct this research, it relates to the purpose of describing and explaining clearly about naturalism in the Wordsworth’s poem without leaving the historical background as the extrinsic poem part. It is used to support the validity research and the valuable interpretation.

Based on the finding ofthe study, naturalism influences much on all five poems. The natural words are almost used to express what it is like to be. Related to the interpretation, the poet always expresses his close relation with nature. Some of the poems express his missing with the nature, his lost times, his love to the nature and the changing of nature. Some poems also use a specific person even tliey do not dominate the poems story. They are only as the supporting person in comparation between him and the nature. The poetic dictions are dominated by natural words such as mountain, rock, water etc, and beautiful pattern of sentence that expresses the beauty ofnature, to show the naturalness ofthe poem as it seems to be and support his idea in expressing his natural surrounding. Based on that, some of the interpretation will connect to the naturalism theory or concept, in order to make it more valuable.

Furthermore, this study is expected to be able to improve the understanding of the literature in forms of poetry and poems deeper than before, especially in understanding the poem pattern, poetic diction and interpretation. And it is also expected to enrich the literature knowledge in purpose of giving some contributions the literary world.
