Abstract
ABSTRACT
There are many elements of poetry analysis, they are rhythm, rhyme, diction, imagery, and figurative language. Furthermore, figurative comparisons or language is one of the most basic and useful ways in which to approach a poem. ' Figurative Language is a kind of language which departs from the language employed in the traditional, literal ways of describing persons or objects. Using figurative language is making imaginative descriptions in fresh ways.
Almost every poem employs figurative language to some extent, but obviously some poets rely on, it more than others, That is why; the writer wants to study figurative language because the figurative language has special meaning and effect. In addition, it is the standard meaning of word or the standard order of words.
Pohon Sidroh is chosen for several reasons. Firstly, since it provides poems that relates to religious philosophy. Secondly, the terminology of Pohon Sidroh is able to identify a word that is very deeply in meaning: Sidrotul Muntaha,
Message is a communication in writing, in speech, or by signals or it was an important theme or idea intended to inspire, urge, warn, enlighten, advice, In this research, appropriate method in finding and understanding the figurative language and messages that exist in the poems of the Pohon Sidroh are descriptive. So, the writer uses descriptive qualitative.
Finally, from this analysis, the researcher found 36 Figurative Language and 8 messages; they are 16 Figurative Language and 3 Messages in Pack io Village poems (they are 5 hyperboles, 4 symbolism, 5 synecdoche, 1 personification, 1 paradox); 15 Figurative Language and 3 Messages in Oasis of Sadness poems (they are 9 symbolism, 2 paradox, 2 hyperbole, 1 synecdoche, 1 personification); and then 5 Figurative Language and 2 Messages in Pick up the Dead poems (they are 1 metaphor, 2 paradox, 1 simile, I allusion). Furthermore, the researcher suggested to the others who wants to analyze this subject to develop it in different problems of the study.
