Hubungan antara problematic internet use dengan self-disclosure pada mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang

Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang sangat cepat telah mendorong terjadinya perubahan di dalam kehidupan manusia. Perubahan tersebut tidak hanya berupa kemajuan, tetapi juga berupa kemunduran atau dampak negatif bagi kehidupan manusia. Kemudahan akses terhadap internet memberikan peluang bagi mahasiswa dan individu dewasa awal menjadi pengguna tertinggi internet. Hal tersebut menyebabkan mahasiswa menjadi target utama pengembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Meskipun begitu penggunaan internet tidak selalu “ positif ” karena tidak adanya batasan pemakaian dan hal yang diakses pun dapat beragam. Salah satu dampak negatif penggunaan internet internet adalah kondisi psikologis akibat penggunaan internet yang berdampak terhadap bidang-bidang kehidupan penggunanya, salah satunya ialah bidang kehidupan sosial. Negative outcome tersebut berupa kesulitan dalam mengekpresikan dan mengungkapkan diri, pendiam, dan penarikan diri secara sosial. Dari sini kemudian peneliti ingin melihat apakah terdapat hubungan antara problematic internet use dengan self-disclosure pada mahasiswa. Mahasiswa sendiri biasanya sedang dalam masa transisi remaja dan dewasa awal dan sedang dalam proses untuk tergabung dalam suatu kelompok, mencari lawan jenis, dan mempunyai peran dan tanggung jawabnya masing-masing. Sehingga fase tersebut merupakan fase yang sangat penting untuk mampu dalam mengungkapkan diri sendiri kepada orang lain. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi UIN Malang sebanyak 56 orang yang sebelumnya telah dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan random. Teori yang digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat problematic internet use adalah teori milik Caplan. Adapun teori yang digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat self-disclosure didasarkan pada teori yang dikemukakan oleh Wheeless. Proses pengolahan data dilakukan dengan bantuan IBM Statistical Package or Social Science (SPSS) ver. 23.0, dan ditemukan hasil rxy - 0.036 dan p 0,792 < 0,05 yang kemudian menunjukkan tidak adanya hubungan antara problematic internet use dengan self-disclosure pada mahasiswa.

The rapid development of information and communication technology has led to changes in human life. These changes are not only in the form of progression, but also in the form of regression or negative impacts on human life. Easy access to the internet provides opportunities for students and young adults to become the highest internet users. This causes students to become the main target for the development of information and communication technology. Even so, the use of the internet is not always "positive" because there are no restrictions on usage and things that are accessed also vary. One of the negative impacts of using the internet is the psychological condition due to internet use which has an impact on areas of the life of its users, one of which is the field of social life. The negative results are in the form of difficulties in expressing and disclose themselves, uncommunicative, and socially withdrawn. From here, the researcher wants to see if there is a relationship between problematic internet use and self-disclosure in college students. Students themselves are usually in the transition period of adolescence and early adulthood and are in the process of joining a group, looking for the opposite sex, and having their own roles and responsibilities. So that this phase is a very important phase to be able to express yourself to others. The subjects of this study were 56 students of the Faculty of Psychology UIN Malang who had previously been selected using purposive and random sampling techniques. The theory used to measure the problematic level of internet use is Caplan's theory. The theory used to measure the level of self-disclosure is based on the theory put forward by Wheeless. . The data was processed using the IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) ver. 25.0, and the results were rxy - 0.036 and p 0.792 <0.05 which indicating there is no relationship between problematic internet use and self-disclosure in college students.
