Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
The playing of alter-accounts by users on Twitter is a reflection of alter ego behavior. Due to the freedom they enjoy, it is common for this account to post offensive and derogatory content, which will harm the social media landscape. This study aims to learning how the theory of planned behavior can be used to determine the factors that influence the alter ego's behavior intentions and how much of an impact they have.
This study employs a quantitative methodology. The sample used was taken from 240 alter account users on Twitter. The attitude scale, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intentions based on the planned behavior theory make up the instrument used. Multiple linear regression analysis is used to analyze the data.
The analysis's findings indicate that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control have a significant impact on alter ego behavior intentions on Twitter users who use an alter ego, with a percentage of 69.3%; the remaining 30.7% is influenced by other factors not a subject of this research. Then, the attitude variable has a partial influence of 11.89%, the subjective norm variable has no effect, and the perceived behavioral control variable has a partial influence of 57.31% on the behavioral intentions of the alter ego.
