Tradisi Pecotan dalam Walimah al-‘Ursy perspektif konstruksi sosial: Studi di Desa Karanganyar, Kecamatan Paiton, Kabupaten Probolinggo

ABSTRAK

Masyarakat Desa Karanganyar Kecamatan Paiton Kabupaten Probolinggo melestarikan tradisi pecotan sebagai media undangan pada acara resepsi perkawinan dengan tujuan memotivasi masyarakat ikut serta menghadiri dan membawa balasan baik berupa uang maupun barang. Masyarakat meyakini pecotan sebagai media undangan walaupun terjadi kontroversial dalam menyikapinya. Melihat kondisi saat ini Desa Karanganyar mengalami perkembangan modernisasi dalam berbagai aspek lini kehidupan, tradisi pecotan yang telah dilakukan sejak dahulu seharusnya mulai luntur dan diabaikan. Namun kenyataan saat ini masyarakat Desa Karanganyar tetap melestarikan tradisi pecotan. Hal ini menarik peneliti untuk mengkaji dan menelaah lebih dalam tentang proses terbentuknya tradisi pecotan dengan memakai Konstruksi Sosial sebagai alat analisis.

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan jenis penelitian empiris yang didasasarkan pada pengambilan data melalui observasi dan wawancara. Sehingga mampu menggali data tentang tradisi pecotan yang telah berjalan lama.

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada dua faktor yang menjadi alasan masyarakat muslim Desa Karanganyar tetap melestarikan tradis pecotan. Pertama, faktor budaya, pengalaman masyarakat menanggapi pecotan sebagai tradisi yang memiliki nilai sosial yang dapat diterima. Kedua, faktor ideologis, konsep berpikir masyarakat yang diyakini dapat mewujudkan keinginan, yaitu untuk memotivasi masyarakat menghadiri, meramaikan, menyaksikan, menyumbang, dan membantu perayaan walimah al-Ursy. Tradisi pecotan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Desa Karanganyar bertujuan mengikat masyarakat untuk menghadiri resepsi perkawinan. Konstruksi sosial tardisi pecotan melalui tiga tahapan. Pertama, eksternalisasi, proses adaptasi diri dengan dunia sosio-kultural yang menghasilkan fenomena berupa penyesuaian diri dengan tradisi pecotan yang memiliki basis historis dan dasar normatifnya. Tahap kedua adalah objektivasi, yaitu proses Interaksi diri dengan dunia sosio-kultural yang menghasilkan fenomena berupa penyadaran dan keyakinan, bahwa pecotan merupakan tradisi yang positif, mampu menciptakan nilai tolong-menolong dan memotivasi masyarakat untuk menghadiri walimah al-‘Ursy. Tahap ketiga adalah internalisasi, yaitu proses identifikasi diri dengan dunia sosio-kultural dan menghasilkan momen tentang adanya penggolongan sosial berbasis historis, kemudian melahirkan kelompok yang menggunakan dan melestarikan tradisi pecotan.

ABSTRACT

The community of Karanganyar Village, Paiton District, Probolinggo Regency preserves the pecotan tradition as an invitation medium at wedding receptions with the aim of motivating the community to participate in attending and bringing rewards in the form of money and goods. People believe pecotan as an invitation medium, even though there is controversy in responding to it. Seeing the current condition of Karanganyar Village experiencing modernization in various aspects of life, the pecotan tradition that has been carried out for a long time should begin to fade and be ignored. However, the current reality is that the people of Karanganyar Village continue to preserve the pecotan tradition. This attracts researchers to examine and examine more deeply about the process of forming the pecotan tradition by using Social Construction as an analytical tool.

This research uses a qualitative approach, with the type of empirical research based on data collection through observation and interviews. So as to be able to dig up data about the long-running tradition of pecotan.

The results of this study indicate that there are two factors that make the Muslim community of Karanganyar Village continue to preserve the pecotan tradition. First, cultural factors, the community's experience of responding to pecotan as a tradition that has acceptable social values. Second, ideological factors, the concept of community thinking that is believed to be able to realize desires, namely to motivate people to attend, enliven, witness, donate, and help celebrate walimah al-Ursy. The pecotan tradition carried out by the people of Karanganyar Village aims to bind people to attend wedding receptions. The social construction of the tradition of pecotan through three stages. First, externalization, the process of self-adaptation with the socio-cultural world which results in a phenomenon in the form of adjustment to the pecotan tradition which has a historical and normative basis. The second stage is objectivation, namely the process of self-interaction with the socio-cultural world which produces a phenomenon in the form of awareness and belief, that pecotan is a positive tradition, able to create the value of helping and motivating people to attend walimah al-'Ursy. The third stage is internalization, namely the process of self-identification with the socio-cultural world and producing moments of historical-based social classification, then giving birth to groups that use and preserve the pecotan tradition.
