Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Soil insects are the insects that part or their whole life on the surface or in the soil. Roles of soil insects in ecosystem are as decomposer, detrivor, herbivore, and predator. Also, the soil insects can be used as an indicator to determine a stability of the ecosystem. Hence, this study aims to identify and to know the diversity of soil insects in the Manggis Gadungan Nature Reserve and Mangli Coffee Plantation Puncu Subdistrict, Kediri District.
This research is done in the Manggis Gadungan Nature Reserve and Mangli Coffee Plantation Puncu Subdistrict, Kediri District on April-June 2015. Then, this research uses descriptive quantitative with an exploration method. Retrieval of data is carried out by the relative valuation method with pitfall trap 30 pieces on each area.
The result of this research shows that 34 specimens of soil insects consist of 8 orders and 18 families. In the Nature Reserve Manggis Gadungan obtained 7 orders 16 families and 633 individuals including decomposers (3 families), detrivors (2 families), herbivores (9 families), and predators (2 families), while in the Mangli Coffee Plantation obtained 6 orders 11 families and 1131 individuals including decomposers (3 families), detrivors (2 families), herbivores (2 families) and predators (3 families). Index of Diversity (H') soil insects in the Nature Manggis Gadungan is 1.47 (moderate diversity) with index of dominance (C) 0.37, whereas Index of Diversity (H') in Mangli Coffee Plantation is 1.19 (moderate diversity) with index of dominance (C) 0.41.
