Abstract
ABSTRACT
The basic Schiff compound is an organic compound with the structure -C = N- (azometine / imine group), which is obtained from the condensation of primary amines (R-NH2) with carbonyl compounds (C = O). This study aims to determine the best grinding time with water solvent in the synthesis of the basic compound Schiff 2-methoxy-6 (((4-methoxyphenyl) imino) methyl) phenol and to determine the characterization results of the synthesis of the Schiff 2-methoxy-6 (( (4-methoxyphenyl) imino) methyl) the phenol.
In this research, the method of grinding Schiff 2-methoxy-6 (((4-methoxyphenyl) imino) methyl) phenol base compound was synthesized from o-vanillin and p-anisidine with water using the grinding method. The mole ratio between o-vanillin and p-anisidine used was 1: 1 with grinding variations for 30, 45, and 60 minutes. The result of the grinding process is dried in a desiccator until its weight is constant. Synthesis products were determined by color, shape, melting point, and chemical tests with 2M NaOH base solution. Furthermore, it was characterized using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) and Gas Cromatography and Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS).
The results showed that the variation of 60 minutes grinding time produced the highest% yield, namely 96.88%. The resulting synthetic product is a solid, yellowish brown in color and has a melting point ranging from 98-101 ° C. Synthetic products dissolved in water will settle. After the addition of 2M NaOH base causes the precipitate to dissolve completely and the color turns yellow. FTIR spectra characterization showed a typical absorption of amine groups (-C = N-) in the region of wave number 1616-1615 cm-1 and characterization using GCMS resulted in peaks at 44.181 minutes retention time with m / z 257 molecular ions which correspond to the molecular weight of the compound. the target is 2-methoxy-6 (((4-methoxyphenyl) imino) methyl) phenol.
ABSTRAK
Senyawa basa Schiff merupakan senyawa organik dengan struktur –C=N- (gugus azometin/imina), yang diperoleh dari hasil kondensasi amina primer (R-NH2) dengan senyawa karbonil (C=O). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui waktu penggerusan terbaik dengan pelarut air pada sintesis senyawa basa Schiff 2-metoksi-6(((4-metoksifenil)imino)metil)fenol dan untuk mengetahui hasil karakterisasi produk sintesis senyawa basa Schiff 2-metoksi-6(((4-metoksifenil)imino)metil)fenol tersebut.
Pada penelitian ini, metode penggerusan senyawa basa Schiff 2-metoksi-6(((4-metoksifenil)imino)metil)fenol disintesis dari o-vanilin dan p-anisidina dengan pelarut air menggunakan metode penggerusan. Perbandingan mol antara o-vanilin dan p-anisidina yang digunakan adalah 1:1 dengan variasi penggerusan selama 30, 45, dan 60 menit. Hasil proses penggerusan dikeringkan dalam desikator sampai beratnya konstan. Produk sintesis ditentukan warna, wujud, titik leleh, serta uji kimia dengan larutan basa NaOH 2M. Selanjutnya dikarakterisasi menggunakan Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) dan Gas Cromatography and Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS).
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi lama waktu penggerusan 60 menit menghasilkan % hasil tertinggi yaitu 96,88%. Produk sintesis yang dihasilkan berupa padatan, berwarna coklat kekuningan dan mempunyai titik leleh berkisar antara 98-101°C. Produk sintesis jika dilarutkan dalam air akan mengendap. Setelah penambahan basa NaOH 2M menyebabkan endapan larut sempurna dan warna menjadi kuning. Karakterisasi spektra FTIR menunjukkan adanya serapan khas gugus amina (-C=N-) di daerah bilangan gelombang 1616-1615 cm-1 dan karakterisasi menggunakan GCMS menghasilkan puncak pada waktu retensi 44,181 menit dengan m/z ion molekular 257 yang sesuai dengan berat molekul senyawa target yaitu 2-metoksi-6(((4-metoksifenil)imino)metil)fenol.
