Abstract

ABSTRACT

Javanese people are attached to the tradition of the past that still remain sustained until this decade. One of those traditionas are the art traditions. Bantengan, is one of those traditions which obatins a high apreciation in the regional are of Malang with the people who already attached to the technological advance lifestyle. However, the citizens appreciation of this traditional arts is superb and does not fade away altough there are some clashes between the Bantengan principles and other community principles.

This research aimed to reveal the category of Social Action Motives of Traditional Art Performers of the Bantengan includes: 1) Action Motives of Bantengan Artist, 2) The fungction of Bantengan art according to Spiturang community, 3) The meaning of Bantengan art according to the Muslim Performers at Supiturang. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The researcher uses Max Weber's theory as her analysis knife. Data collection is done by data analysis techniques including data condensation, data presentation, drawing conclusions, checking the validity of the data using data triangulation.

The research informants were the community of Supiturang who was active in Bantengan traditional art The results showed that: 1) The social motives of traditional Bantengan art actors can be categorized into four groups namely a) Traditional Action in the form of imitating the activities carried out by the previous generation, b) Affectional Action in the form of a love of the arts, c) Instrumental Rational Action in the form of business to unite the citizens of Supiturang, d) Value Rational Action in the form of an effort to carry out the 3rd precept of Pancasila. 2) Function of Bantengan art based on R.M. Soedarsono namely Primary and Secondary Functions. a) Primary function of the Bantengan Art namely; ritual means, entertainment facilities, aesthetic presentations. b) Secondary function of Bantengan namely; Generating community solidarity, binding the nation's solidarity, communication, and means of government propaganda. 3) The meaning of Bantengan according to Muslim performers in Supiturang, that Bantengan art has values that are also contained in the teachings of Islam, namely; the value of togetherness and mutual cooperation, the value of beauty, the value of truth, the value of goodness, preventing badness, the value of responsibility, religious value, and the value of trust.

ABSTRAK

Masyarakat Jawa lekat dengan tradisi pada masa lampau yang masih tetap melestari hingga kini, salah satunya adalah tradisi keseniannya. Bantengan, kesenian tradisional ini merupakan kesenian yang mendapat apresiasi tinggi di wilayah regional Malang yang masyarakatnya sudah mengenal kemajuan teknologi. Namun apresiasi masyarakat wilayah terhadap kesenian Tradisional ini tidak luntur begitu saja, meski terdapat beberapa benturan pada prinsip kesenian tradisional Bantengan dengan prinsip-prinsip kehidupan masyarakat yang lain.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan kategori motif pelaku kesenian tradisional Bantengan di Dusun Supiturang – Karangploso - Malang, dengan sub fokus mencakup: (1) Motif tindakan pelaku Bantengan (2) Fungsi kesenian tradisional Bantengan menurut masyarakat Supiturang, (3) Makna kesenian Bantengan menurut pelaku muslim di Dusun Supiturang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi, peneliti menggunakan teori Max Weber sebagai pisau analisanya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis data mencakup pemadatan data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan, pengecekan keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi data.

Informan penelitian adalah masyarakat dusun Supiturang yang aktif dalam kesenian tradisional Bantengan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Motif tindakan sosial pelaku kesenian tradisonal Bantengan dapat dikategorikan menjadi empat kelompok yaitu a) Traditional Action berupa meniru aktifitas yang telah dilaksanakan oleh generasi sebelumnya, b) Affectional Action berupa kecintaan terhadap seni, c) Instrumental Rational Action berupa usaha untuk mempersatukan warga Supiturang, d) Value Rational Action berupa usaha untuk melaksanakan sila ke-3 Pancasila. 2) Fungsi Kesenian Bantengan berdasarkan R.M. Soedarsono yaitu Fungsi Primer dan Sekunder. a) Fungsi Primer Kesenian Bantengan yaitu; sarana ritual, sarana hiburan, presentasi estetis. b) Fungsi Sekunder Bantengan yaitu; Pembangkit Solidaritas masyarakat, pengikat solidaritas bangsa, sarana komunikasi, dan sarana propaganda pemerintah. 3) Makna Bantengan menurut pelaku Muslim di Dusun Supiturang, bahwa kesenian Bantengan memiliki nilai-nilai yang juga terdapat dalam ajaran agama Islam, yaitu; nilai kebersamaan dan gotong-royong, nilai keindahan, nilai kebenaran, nilai kebaikan, mencegah keburukan, nilai tanggung jawab, nilai religius, dan nilai kepercayaan.
