Abstract
INDONESIA:
Basa Schiff secara umum merupakan senyawa yang dihasilkan dari reaksi reversibel antara amina primer dengan keton atau aldehida alifatik . Senyawa basa Schiff memiliki karakteristik struktur dengan adanya gugus C=N (imina). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil sintesis senyawa basa Schiff dengan menggunakan metode penggerusan dan nilai toksisitas senyawa basa schiff 2-metoksi-4-((4-metoksifenilimino)metil)fenol.
Metode yang digunakan dalam sintesis senyawa basa Schiff 2-metoksi-4-((4-metoksifenilimino)metil)fenol dari senyawa vanillin dan p-anisidin yaitu menggunakan metode penggerusan dengan lama waktu gerus 20 menit. Produk hasil sintesis dikarekterisasi dengan Spektrofotometer FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red). Metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) digunakan untuk uji toksisitas. Nilai LC50 digunakan sebagai parameter penentu tingkat toksik sanyawa basa schiff 2-metoksi-4-((4-metoksifenilimino)metil)fenol.
Rendemen hasil sintesis senyawa basa Schiff 2-metoksi-4-((4-metoksifenilimino) metil)fenol dengan penggerusan 20 menit sebesar 93,51%. Secara fisik diperoleh produk berupa padatan, warna coklat muda dan titik lebur 128-131 oC. Karakterisasi menggunakan FTIR mengindikasikan bahwa produk adalah senyawa basa Schiff 2-metoksi-4-((4-metoksifenilimino)metil)fenol. Spektra FTIR menunjukkan produk memiliki serapan khas senyawa basa Schiff (C=N) pada 1591,12 cm-1. Hasil dari uji toksisitas senyawa basa schiff 2-metoksi-4-((4-metoksifenilimino)metil)fenol diperoleh nilai LC50 sebesar 35,97 ppm dengan nilai LC50 senyawa pembanding p-Anisidin sebesar 22,42 ppm.

Basa Schiff is normally the form of compound resulted from reversible reaction between primary amina with keton or aldehida aliphatic. Basa Schiff compound has structural characters with the existence of structure C=N (imina). This research is aimed at acknowledging the result of synthetic compound of Basa Schiff by using grinding and toxic value of basa Schiff compound 2-methoxy-4-((4-methoxyphenylimino) methyl) phenol.
Method used in the synthetic compound of Basa Schiff 2-methoxy-4-((4-methoxyphenylimino) methyl) phenol from vanillin compound and p-anisidin is using grinding as long as 20 minutes grinding. The product of synthetic result is characterized as FTIR Spectrophotometer (Fourier Transform Infra Red). Method Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) is used for toxic test. The value of LC50 is used as parameter of deciding the level of toxic in Basa Schiff compound 2-methoxy-4-((4-methoxyphenylimino) methyl) phenol.
Recovery of synthetic compound of Basa Schiff 2-methoxy-4-((4-methoxyphenylimino) methyl) phenol with the total grinding of 20 minutes as many as 93,51%. Physically, is gotten the product in the form of solids, the color is light brown with melting point 128-131 oC. The characters of using FTIR indicates that the product is basa compound 2-methoxy-4-((4-methoxyphenylimino) methyl) phenol. FTIR spectra show that the product has a typical absorption of Schiff base compounds (C = N) at 1591.12 cm-1. Results of toxicity test of schiff base compound 2-methoxy-4-((4-methoxifenilimino) methyl) phenol can be gotten that LC50 is as high as 35,97 ppm with the value of LC50 competing compound of p-Anisidin as high as 22,42 ppm.
