Abstract
INDONESIA :
Maghemit merupakan salah satu senyawa oksida besi yang dapat di sintesis dari limbah besi, seperti limbah besi bubut. Pigmen maghemit (γ-Fe2O3) telah disintesis menggunakan metode presipitasi-kalsinasi dengan variasi prekursor. Hasil presipitasi dengan variasi prekursor, variasi pertama FeSO4 dan FeCl3; variasi kedua FeSO4 dan Fe(NO3)3; dan variasi ketiga FeCl2 dan Fe(NO3)3 menghasilkan magnetit, kemudian di kalsinasi dengan suhu 350 oC selama 3 jam sehingga menghasilkan maghemit. Sampel hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRD, Color Reader, dan SEM-EDX. Data XRD dan Color Reader menunjukkan seluruh sampel hasil kalsinasi sesuai dengan standar maghemit. Ukuran kristal terbesar 49,87 nm dan nilai Lightness serta Chroma terbesar pada variasi ketiga. Hasil SEM-EDX menunjukkan bahwa morfologi γ-Fe2O3 hasil sintesis dan distribusi ukuran partikel yang tidak seragam, serta terdapat pengotor berupa Si dan C.
ENGLISH :
Maghemite is one of the iron oxide compounds which can be synthesized from iron waste, such as iron lathe waste. Synthesis maghemite pigment (γ-Fe2O3) using solvent variations by precipitation-calcination method. The result of precipitation with precursor variation, the first variation FeSO4 and FeCl3; the second variation FeSO4 and Fe(NO3)3; and the thirt variation FeCl2 and Fe(NO3)3 produces magnetite, then calcined at 350 oC for 3 hours to produce maghemite. The synthesized samples were characterized using XRD, Color Reader, and SEM-EDX. XRD and Color Reader data show all calcined samples according to maghemit standards. The largest crystal size is 49.87 nm and the Lightness and Chroma values are the largest in the third variation. From SEM-EDX that morphology of γ-Fe2O3 is spheric, the distribution of particle size is not uniform, and there were impurities in the form of Si and C.
