Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Silver is an effective and potentially antimicrobial agent in various health fields, such as antibacterial acne treatment. In this study the synthesis of nanosilver formulated in a gel to improve the ability of antibacterial activity. The aims of this study was to determine the physicochemical characteristics of synthesis nanosilver and gel as well as antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The synthesis of nanosilver was carried out using sodium citrate as a reductor. Then characterized using Particle Size Analyze (PSA).Nanosilver gel was made by adding carbopol 934, propylene glycol, methylparaben, sodium metabisulfite, NaOH, triethanolamine, aquadest and 70% of silver nanosilver. Physicochemical characteristics include organoleptic, pH, viscosity, dispersion, and stability. Furthermore, the antibacterial test was carried out using disc diffusion method against the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The results of physicochemical characterization obtained by the gel were better than the synthesis of silver nanoparticles organoleptically yellow, clear, transparent, pH value 5-6, particle size 83.96 nm with index polydispersity value 0.35 <0.5, viscosity of 3893 cPs, spread power 6.93 cm, stable and in accordance with good gel standards. Addition of gelling agent and components in formulation of nanosilver gel preparations increased the ability to inhibit Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with a diameter inhibition zone of 8.6 mm in moderate categories and higher inhibition than the synthesis of silver nanoparticles.
