Abstract

INDONESIA:

Alginat dan selulosa merupakan polimer alam yang bersifat biodegradable. Selulosa dapat diturunkan sebagai selulosa xantat yang berpotensi sebagai pembentukan selulosa beads. Pada penelitian ini pembuatan beads alginat-selulosa xantat dilakukan variasi porogen NaCl yaitu 0; 0,5; 1; dan 1,5 gram. Beads dibuat menggunakan metode gelasi ionik dan dikarakterisasi menggunakan Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), kemampuan mengembang dengan uji swelling, morfologi permukaan dengan Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersion X-Ray (SEM-EDX), dan porositas beads. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa penambahan NaCl didapatkan nilai tertinggi pada beads porogen NaCl 1,5 gram, berdasarkan nilai swelling sebesar 82,47 % yang ditandai dengan munculnya gugus Zn2+ pada spektrum IR. Morfologi permukaan didapat permukaan yang halus dan sedikit terdapat cekungan. Nilai Porositas tertinggi didapat pada konsentrasi 1,5 gram dengan nilai sebesar 66,67%.

ENGLISH:

Alginate and cellulose are biodegradable natural polymers. Cellulose can be derived as cellulose xanthate which has the potential to form cellulose beads. Synthesis of alginate-cellulose xanthate beads was carried out by NaCl porogen variations, which are 0; 0.5; 1; and 1.5 grams. Syntesis beads alginate-cellulose xanthate using ionic gelation method and characterized using swelling ability with swelling test, Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), surface morphology with Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersion X-Ray (SEM-EDX), and beads porosity. The result of characterization showed that adding NaCl was obtained in porogen beads 1.5 gram NaCl, based on the swelling value of 82.47% which was indicated by the appearance of Zn2+ groups in the IR spectrum. Surface morphology is obtained with a smooth surface and a few basins. And the highest porosity was obtained at a concentration of 1.5 grams with a value of 66.67%.
