Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
This study aims to determine the levels of work overload, self-regulation, and burnout among Food and Beverage (F&B) employees in Malang City, as well
as to examine the effects of work overload and self-regulation on burnout, both partially and simultaneously. This study employs a quantitative approach with an
explanatory design. The study sample consisted of 204 active F&B employees in Malang City, selected using convenience sampling. The research instruments
included a burnout scale based on the theory of Maslach and Jackson (1981), a work overload scale based on the theory of Hart and Staveland (1988), and a self-regulation scale based on the theory of Neal and Carey (2005).
Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, assumption tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity), and hypothesis testing via multiple
linear regression. The results indicate that the levels of work overload, self-regulation, and burnout among F&B employees in Malang City generally fall into
the moderate category. The results of the hypothesis tests confirm that work overload has a positive and significant effect on burnout (β = 0.478, p < 0.001),
while self-regulation has a negative and significant effect on burnout (β = -0.194, p = 0.001). Simultaneously, work overload and self-regulation together have a
significant effect on burnout (F = 44.49, p < 0.001) with an effective contribution of 30.7% (R² = 0.307), while the remaining 69.3% is influenced by other factors
outside the scope of this study. Thus, work overload acts as a risk factor and self- regulation acts as a protective factor against burnout among F&B employees in Malang City.
