Abstract
INDONESIA:
Pelaihari sebagai salah satu wilayah penyangga kota di Kalimantan Selatan memiliki potensi alam yang besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai kawasan wisata. Namun, kurangnya fasilitas akomodasi yang layak dan terpadu menjadi kendala dalam mendukung aktivitas pariwisata yang semakin meningkat. Akomodasi yang tersedia belum mampu memberikan kenyamanan termal, keterpaduan fungsi, maupun pengalaman ruang yang menyatu dengan alam. Isu inilah yang melatarbelakangi perancangan Tuscaloosa Tropical Resort. Resort ini dirancang sebagai akomodasi wisata bintang 4 dengan pendekatan arsitektur bioklimatik digunakan untuk merespons kondisi iklim tropis melalui strategi orientasi bangunan, overhang, secondary skin, pemanfaatan elemen peneduh, dan penggunaan material lokal. Luas tapak ±10 hektar dirancang dengan zonasi akomodasi, fasilitas aktivitas, pelayanan, dan ruang terbuka hijau yang saling terintegrasi. Nilai-nilai keislaman turut diterapkan dalam bentuk penyediaan fasilitas ibadah, prinsip kesederhanaan, serta harmoni antara manusia dan lingkungan sekitar. Perancangan ini diharapkan menjadi solusi terhadap minimnya akomodasi wisata berkualitas di Pelaihari, sekaligus menghadirkan resort tropis yang kontekstual, berkelanjutan, dan bernilai lokal.

Pelaihari, a satellite region of South Kalimantan's provincial capital, possesses considerable natural assets for tourism development. Yet the area still lacks integrated, high-quality accommodation, hindering its rapidly growing visitor activity. Existing lodgings fall short in providing thermal comfort, functional cohesion, and a spatial experience that harmonises with the surrounding landscape. Addressing this gap, the Tuscaloosa Tropical Resort is conceived as a four-star tourist facility employing a bioclimatic architectural approach that responds to the tropical climate through careful building orientation, generous overhangs, secondary skins, shading devices, and the use of locally sourced materials. The ±10-hectare site is organised into interlinked zones for accommodation, recreational amenities, service functions, and extensive green open spaces. Islamic values are incorporated through well-placed prayer facilities, principles of modesty, and a design philosophy that fosters harmony between people and the environment. The project aspires to provide a much-needed, high-quality lodging option for Pelaihari while delivering a context-sensitive, sustainable tropical resort with strong local character.
