Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi Turnitin dalam mencegah tindakan Plagiarisme pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kebijakan universitas mewajibkan penggunaan aplikasi turnitin terutama pada mahasiswa akhir dalam penelitian tugas akhir dengan tujuan untuk menghindari plagiarisme. Akan tetapi pada kenyataanya masih terdapat mahasiswa yang belum menggunakan aplikasi turnitin, serta terdapat juga mahasiswa yang hanya melakukan pendaftaran aplikasi turnitin tanpa mengaktivasi akun turnitin yang telah disediakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi Turnitin dalam mencegah tindakan plagiarisme di kalangan mahasiswa tingkat akhir UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim dengan menggunakan Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif, dengan melakukan pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada 251 mahasiswa UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim yang telah menggunakan aplikasi Turnitin yang difasilitasi oleh perpustakaan. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan rumus mean dan grand mean. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 67,2% mahasiswa memiliki persepsi positif terhadap kegunaan Turnitin, yang tidak hanya mendeteksi plagiarisme tetapi juga meningkatkan produktivitas dan keterampilan menulis. Sebanyak 43,8% mahasiswa merasa aplikasi ini mudah dipelajari, dengan antarmuka intuitif dan fitur yang jelas. Selain itu, 45,3% mahasiswa menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap kemudahan penggunaan, dan 62,5% memiliki minat kuat untuk menggunakan Turnitin dalam kegiatan penulisan. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Turnitin secara signifikan meningkatkan produktivitas mahasiswa, membantu mereka memahami konsep orisinalitas, serta mencegah plagiarisme dan meningkatkan integritas akademik.

ABSTRACT

This research is motivated by the existence of a university policy requiring the use of the turnitin application, especially for final students in their final project research with the aim of avoiding plagiarism. However, in reality there are still students who have not used the turnitin application, and there are also students who only register for the turnitin application without activating the turnitin account that has been provided. The purpose of this study is to determine student perceptions of the use of the Turnitin application in preventing acts of plagiarism among final year students of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The method used is quantitative method, by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 251 students of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim who have used the Turnitin application facilitated by the library. The data that has been collected is analyzed using the mean and grand mean formulas. The results showed that 67.2% of students have a positive perception of the usefulness of Turnitin, which not only detects plagiarism but also improves productivity and writing skills. A total of 43.8% of students found the app easy to learn, with an intuitive interface and clear features. In addition, 45.3% of students showed a positive attitude towards ease of use, and 62.5% had a strong interest in using Turnitin in writing activities. Overall, this study concludes that Turnitin significantly improves students' productivity, helps them understand the concept of originality, and prevents plagiarism and enhances academic integrity.
