Abstract
ENGLISH:
Life deals with feelings, ideas, experinces, passions, and imagination, then literattire or art is a way ofreproducing or recreating the experiences of life in words. In reproducing the experiences, authors include their opinion about them. For this study is focused on the analysis of sociological aspects of “PYGMALION”, a drama written by George Bernard Shaw. To know whether Shaw includes his opinion about sociological aspects expressing in his drama or not. This study aims at answering the following two reseach problems. First of all, to know what are sociological aspects included in “Pygmalion”. Second, to know the way of main character in changing and reaching her social status. A qualitative design is formulatiedand the descriftive technique of analysis is used. The writer decides to make use of the sociological aspects as the basis of her analysis due to the fact that sociology embodies the theories of social stratification, beside being a science that the best describes any phenomena taking place in the society.
Then, the findings are achieved by analyzing the quotations cited from the text on the basis of the sociological aspects that the writer has reviewed. Relating to the
first problem, that ،،Pygmalion” includes some sociological aspects showing from the statements and exposition in certain dialogue from each acts such a culture and social stratification. In answering the second research problem, that is the way of main character in changing ang reaching her social status, the writer analyzes her way through education and economics.
Conducting a closer look into George Bernard Shaw, the writer of ،،Pygmalion” itself, the writer concludes that the drama describes London society including the description about culture and social stratification within.She also concludes that the main character in changing and reaching her social status, she has to adapt with the new culture which is different from what she had before.
Eventually, the writer suggests that this study can enrich the understanding of sociological aspects in literary works also further and deeper study on “Pygmalion” or other dramas be conducted
