Abstract
INDONESIA:
Indonesia adalah negara yang multikultural, Badan Pusat Statistik menyatakan jumlah suku di Indonesia sebanyak 1.128 suku, dengan komposisi 1.072 etnik dan sub-etnik. Ribuan suku dan etnik yang ada di Indonesia tersebut menghasilkan beragam kebudayaan yang khas dan unik dari tiap sukunya. Namun, Derasnya arus globalisasi menenggelamkan kesenian khas Indonesia. Satu diantara kesenian khas Indonesia yang kini masih tersisa dari hedonism globalisasi adalah alat musik Jawa, Gamelan. Eksistensi seni musik Gamelan dapat dilihat dari tanggapan yang luar biasa di dunia internasional. Namun, hal ini menjadi sebuah ironi karena keadaan tersebut berbanding terbalik dengan yang ada di Indonesia. Banyak orang yang menyangsikan masa depan seni musik gamelan. Sehingga diperlukan adanya pusat kesenian gamelan guna memberikan ruang bagi generasi muda agar dapat melestarikan seni musik Gamelan Jawa. Surakarta sebagai Kota Budaya sekaligus pusat dari Kerajaan Mataram merupakan kota yang pantas dijadikan sebagai pusat pelestarian Gamelan Jawa. Oleh karena itu, perancangan Pusat Pertunjukan dan Pengembangan Seni Musik Gamelan Jawa di Surakarta diharapkan dapat menjadi wadah pelestarian serta pengembangan seni musik Gamelan Jawa. Lokasi perancangan Pusat Pertunjukan dan Pengembangan Seni Musik Gamelan Jawa ini berada di Jalan Kolonel Sutarto, Jebres, Surakarta. Jalan Kolonel Sutarto yang merupakan jalan arteri dan dekatnya lokasi perancangan dengan Rumah Sakit Moewardi, memberikan permasalahan terkait kebisingan yang ditimbulkan oleh Pusat Gamelan. Perancangan Pusat Pertunjukan dan Pengembangan Seni Musik Gamelan Jawa menggunakan pendekatan “Architecture as Literature” dengan sumber literatur berupa naskah Jawa, yaitu Serat Wulangreh. Pendekatan tersebut memiliki prinsip-prinsip untuk mengidentifikasi alur cerita, struktur sastra, ritma dan pemahaman makna yang ada dalam Serat Wulangreh, kemudian diinterpretasikan kedalam Arsitektur. Dengan demikian, diharapkan penerapan prinsip-prinsip tersebut kedalam rancangan, mampu memberi solusi terkait sedikitnya minat generasi muda pada seni musik gamelan serta tanggapan terhadap kondisi eksisting lokasi perancangan.

Indonesia is a multicultural country, the central institution of statistics (BPS) said the number of tribes in Indonesia is 1.128 tribes, with 1.072 ethnic and sub-ethnic compositions. Thousands of tribes and ethnic in Indonesia produced a variety of peculiar cultures from each tribes. However, the increasing of globalization drowns peculiar art of Indonesian. One of the peculiar art Indonesian that is still left of hedonism globalization is the instrument of Javanese music, gamelan. The existence of gamelan music art can be seen from the extraordinary response in the international world. However, it became an irony because the situation is inversely proportional to that in Indonesia. Many people disbelieved the future of gamelan music art. So it is required the existence of gamelan art center in order to make opportunity for younger generation to preserve Javanese gamelan music art. Surakarta as the culture city as well as the center of the Mataram Kingdom as city that deserves to be the center of preservation of the Java Gamelan. Therefore, the designing of the performance center and developing of Javanese gamelan music art in Surakarta is expected to be a place of preservation and development of Javanese gamelan music art. The location of performance center designing and development centerthis Javanese gamelan music is located at Kolonel Sutarto street, Jebres, Surakarta. Kolonel Sutarto street is as arterial road and nearby to location of the design with Moewardi hospital, provided problems related to the noise generated by the gamelan center. The design of performing center and development of Javanese gamelan music art used architecture as literature approach with literature source in the form of Javanese script, that is serat wulangreh. The approach has principles for identifying the storyline, literarature structure, rhythm and understanding of meaning that existed in serat wulangreh, then it is interpreted into the architecture. Therefore, it is expected to apply principles into the design, it is be able to provide solutions related to at least the interest of young generation to the art of gamelan music and the response to the existing condition of the design location.
