Abstract
INDONESIA:
Pemberian calistung (baca, tulis, hitung) di pendidikan anak usia dini merupakan fenomena yang sedang banyak dibahas oleh pakar psikologi perkembangan serta pendidikan karena di anggap anak usia dini belum mampu untuk menerima pembelajaran tersebut. Karena menurut Piaget anak usia dini usia 3 sampai 6 tahun sedang berada pada tahap kognitif praoperasional yang belum mampu menyerap hal-hal yang bersifat abstrak, konservatif, dan reversible seperti pembelajaran calistung tersebut.
Penelitian dilakukan di TK Nafilah Malang yang merupakan salah satu lembaga pendidikan anak usia dini yang memberikan pelajaran calistung kepada siswanya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pembelajaran di TK Nafilah yang kemudian ditinjau dari sudut pandang teori perkembangan kognitif Jean Piaget untuk anak usia dini, dan bagaimana pengaruhnya terhadap perkembangan aspek-aspek kognitif siswa tersebut.
Penelitian ini memakai metode studi kasus yang pengambilan datanya menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, serta dokumentasi. Data utama diperoleh dari data observasi karena subjek penelitian masih berusia anak-anak, sehingga akan lebih alami jika data didapat melalui teknik observasi. Fokus penelitian terletak pada kelas B yang sudah menerima pembelajaran calistung secara intensif, terdapat 10 siswa yang terdiri dari 5 siswa perempuan dan 5 siswa laki-laki, mereka berusia antara 4 sampai 6 tahun.
Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan adanya beberapa metode pembelajaran yang kurang sesuai dengan teori kognitif Jean Piaget, seperti metode student center yang digunakan untuk pendidikan anak usia dini, serta materi ajar yang bersifat konservatif, irreversible dan abstrak, seperti calistung itu sendiri yang secara teori kognitif anak usia dini (praoperasional) belum mampu menerimanya. Hasil penelitian selanjutnya juga menunjukkan bahwa hal tersebut berpengaruh pada perkembangan aspek-aspek kognitif siswa, seperti kurangnya atensi terhadap pelajaran, kurangnya pemahaman terhadap tulisan, sampai kurangnya kemampuan problem solving serta pengambilan keputusan. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pembelajaran yang tidak sesuai dengan masa perkembangan individu akan berdampak terhadap perkembangan-perkembangan yang lain seperti perkembangan kognitif.yang menjadi tema utama dalam penelitian ini.

Giving calistung (reading, writing, and counting) in early childhood education is a phenomenon that is being discussed by many psychology experts of development and education because it is considered that early childhood has not been able to receive such learning. Because according to Piaget early childhood of ages 3 to 6 years old is the stage of preoperational cognitive that has not been able to absorb things that are abstract, conservative, and reversible such as the calistung lessons.
This research was conducted in Kindergarten Nafilah Malang, which was one of the early childhood education institutions that provided calistung lessons to their students. The purpose of this research was to know the learning in Kindergarten Nafilah that deviated from Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development for early childhood, and what impacts it produced on the development of cognitive aspects of the students.
This research used a case study method in which the data collection was using the methods of observation, interview, and documentation. The main data was obtained from the data of observation because the subject of the research was still children, so it would be more natural if the data was obtained through observation. The focus of the research was in class B that had received intensive learning of calistung, there were 10 students consisting of 5 female students and 5 male students aged between 4 to 6 years old.
The results showed that there were some learning methods that deviated from the cognitive theory, such as the learning method used, as well as the teaching materials like the calistung itself. Where it affected the development of cognitive aspects of students, such as the attention to lessons, understanding of writing, to the ability of solving problems and decision-making. it showed that the provision of learning that was not in accordance with the development stage would impact on other developments, Therefore early childhood education institutions should give more attention to the stage of psychological development of their students and adjust the learning given with the phase of students’ development itself.
