Abstract
INDONESIA:
Fazlur Rahman adalah pemrakarsa Neomodernisme dan menyatakan bahwa pendidikan baginya menempati posisi yang sangat penting dalam perilaku beragama Islam. Sehingga penataan sumber daya Muslim dimulai dari pemberdayaan mutu pendidikan. Gambaran pembaruan model pendidikan Islam yang dikemukakan oleh Fazlur Rahman banyak diselimuti oleh pandangan Neomodernisme. Peneliti mengangkat tokoh ini karena beliau adalah salah seorang intelektual Muslim yang produktif dan otoritas terhadap keilmuan, yang telah memberikan banyak kontribusi baru dalam disiplin keilmuan khususnya di bidang pendidikan Islam. Adapun fokus penelitian ini adalah bagaimana Pemikiran Fazlur Rahman tentang Neomodernisme, bagaimana pemikiran Fazlur Rahman tentang Pendidikan Islam, dan bagaimana implikasi pemikiran Neomodernisme Fazlur Rahman dalam Pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan library research (kajian pustaka), yakni berusaha mengungkapkan konsep-konsep baru dengan cara membaca dan mencatat informasi yang relevan dengan kebutuhan. Adapun teknik analisa dari penulisan karya ilmiah ini adalah content analysis (analisis isi). Hasil penelitian ini adalah deskripsi pemikiran Fazlur Rahman tentang neomodernisme. Neomodernisme menawarkan bentuk pembaharuan dalam tubuh Islam yang masih tetap memegang teguh tradisi atau ajaran-ajaran pokok agama Islam. Substansi neomodernisme yaitu menjawab tantangan modernisme Barat dan tidak mau mengekor budaya westernisasi. Tetapi Fazlur Rahman juga mampu menunjukkan identitas keislaman. Implikasi pemikiran pendidikan dalam Islam dengan neomodernisme terlihat terutama dengan pandangan pendidikan Islam yang rasionalis-religius. Tujuan dan strategi pendidikan dirancang dengan latar belakang sistemis sesuai perjalanan sejarah Islam abad pertengahan. Selain itu, metode pendidikan diajarkan dengan model pedagogy (kedewasaan) sebagaimana Nabi Muhammad saw. memberikan pendidikan sesuai kebutuhan. Misalnya mengembangkan empat dasar kurikulum agama yang meliputi: hadist (tradisi), fikih (hukum), kalam (teologi) dan tafsir (eksegisis Al-Qur'an). Dari hasil penelitian di atas dapat disimpulkan dan dapat dilihat secara seksama, ternyata Fazlur Rahman yang selama ini hanya dipandang sebagai tokoh yang concern di bidang hukum dan filsafat, ia juga punya pemikiran tentang pendidikan Islam. Pandangannya terhadap pendidikan Islam tidak jauh dari gagasan besarnya dalam menyokong neomodernisme Islam.

Fazlur Rahman was the initiator of Neomodernism and stated that education for him to occupy a very important position in the Islamic religious behavior. So the Muslim resource setup is started from the empowerment of the quality of education. Description of the updates for Islamic education model made by Fazlur Rahman much influenced by Neomodernisme views. Researcher raised this figure because he was one of the Muslim intellectuals who are productive and the authority of science, which has provided many new contributions in scientific disciplines, especially in the field of Islamic education. As for the focus of the research is how thought of Fazlur Rahman about Neomodernism, thinking about how ideas Fazlur Rahman of islamic education, and how the implications of Fazlur Rahman’s Neomodernism thought in the islamic education. This research is a descriptive qualitative with library research (literature review), which sought to express new concepts by way of reading and noting relevant information to your needs. As for the engineering analysis of the writing of scientific work is a content analysis. The results of this research is the description of Fazlur Rahman’s thought of Neomodernism. Neomodernism offers forms of renewal within the body of Islam which still holds fast to tradition or the principal teachings of Islam. Neomodernism substance that is answering the challenge of Western modernism and unwilling to follow the cultural Westernization. But Fazlur Rahman was also able to show Islamic identity. The implications of education thought in Islam and Neomodernism seen chiefly with the Islamic education that rasionalis-religius. Educational objectives and strategies are designed with a systemic background according to the history of medieval Islam. In addition, the methods of education are taught with the model of pedagogy (maturity) as the Prophet Muhammad provide education as needed. For example develop four basic religious curriculum which includes: Hadist (tradition), Fiqh (law), Kalam (theology) and Tafsir (Qur'anic eksegisis). From the results of this research can be concluded and can be seen carefully Fazlur Rahman, it turns out that only a figure is seen as a concern in law and philosophy, he also had thoughts about Islamic education. His view of Islamic education are not far from the idea of magnitude in support of Islamic Neomodernism.
