Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Background: Hypertension among prospective Hajj pilgrims is a health problem that may be influenced by psychological factors and sleep patterns. Anxiety and sleep quality are thought to play a role in blood pressure regulation; however, empirical evidence remains inconsistent. Methods: This study employed an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A minimum sample of 22 prospective Hajj pilgrims in Batu City in 2026 was selected using the Slovin formula. Data were collected through anxiety questionnaires, sleep quality questionnaires, and blood pressure measurements. Bivariate analysis was performed. Results: The majority of respondents did not experience anxiety (77.1%), had poor sleep quality (80.0%), and had hypertension (80.0%). There was no significant association between anxiety level and the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.687), nor between sleep quality and the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.091). Conclusion: Anxiety level and sleep quality were not significantly associated with the incidence of hypertension among prospective Hajj pilgrims in Batu City in 2026.
