Pengaruh paparan informasi politik di media sosial terhadap partisipasi politik mahasiswa melalui kecemasan politik sebagai variabel mediasi

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh meningkatnya intensitas paparan informasi politik di media sosial yang menjadikan mahasiswa sebagai kelompok yang rentan mengalami dinamika kognitif dan emosional dalam merespons isu politik. Di satu sisi, media sosial memperluas akses informasi dan mendorong partisipasi politik, namun di sisi lain dapat menimbulkan kecemasan politik akibat information overload dan paparan konten yang bersifat konflik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh paparan informasi politik di media sosial terhadap partisipasi politik mahasiswa, serta menguji peran kecemasan politik sebagai variabel mediasi.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional non-eksperimen. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 414 mahasiswa aktif di Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Kota Malang yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari skala paparan informasi politik, kecemasan politik, dan partisipasi politik. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji regresi linear dan analisis mediasi menggunakan PROCESS Macro (Model 4) dengan pendekatan bootstrapping melalui bantuan software IBM SPSS Statistics.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa paparan informasi politik di media sosial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap partisipasi politik mahasiswa dengan arah negatif. Sementara itu, paparan informasi politik tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kecemasan politik. Di sisi lain, kecemasan politik terbukti berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap partisipasi politik. Namun, hasil uji mediasi menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan politik tidak berperan sebagai variabel mediasi dalam hubungan antara paparan informasi politik dan partisipasi politik mahasiswa. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa faktor emosional tidak selalu menjadi mekanisme perantara dalam dinamika partisipasi politik di era digital.

This study is motivated by the increasing exposure to political information on social media, positioning students as a group vulnerable to cognitive and emotional dynamics in responding to political issues. On one hand, social media expands access to information and encourages political participation; on the other hand, it may trigger political anxiety due to information overload and exposure to conflict-laden content. This study aims to analyze the effect of political information exposure on social media on students’ political participation and to examine the mediating role of political anxiety.
This research employed a quantitative approach with a non-experimental correlational design. The participants consisted of 414 undergraduate students from public universities in Malang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring political information exposure, political anxiety, and political participation. Data analysis was conducted using linear regression and mediation analysis with PROCESS Macro (Model 4) employing a bootstrapping approach using IBM SPSS Statistics.
The findings reveal that exposure to political information on social media has a significant negative effect on students’ political participation. However, political information exposure does not significantly affect political anxiety. Meanwhile, political anxiety has a significant positive effect on political participation. The mediation analysis indicates that political anxiety does not mediate the relationship between political information exposure and political participation. These findings suggest that emotional factors do not necessarily function as mediating mechanisms in shaping political participation in the digital era.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل تأثير التعرض للمعلومات السياسية عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي على المشاركة السياسية لدى الطلبة، مع اختبار دور القلق السياسي كمتغير وسيط. تنبع أهمية هذه الدراسة من تزايد استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي كمصدر رئيسي للمعلومات السياسية، مما يجعل الطلبة عرضة للتأثيرات المعرفية والانفعالية الناتجة عن كثافة المعلومات والتعرض للمحتوى السياسي المتضارب.
اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الكمي باستخدام تصميم ارتباطي غير تجريبي. بلغ عدد العينة 414 طالبًا من الجامعات الحكومية في مدينة مالانج، تم اختيارهم باستخدام أسلوب العينة القصدية. تم جمع البيانات باستخدام استبيانات تقيس التعرض للمعلومات السياسية، والقلق السياسي، والمشاركة السياسية. وتم تحليل البيانات باستخدام تحليل الانحدار الخطي وتحليل الوساطة باستخدام برنامج SPSS عبر نموذج PROCESS (النموذج الرابع) بطريقة Bootstrapping.
أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن التعرض للمعلومات السياسية عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي يؤثر بشكل سلبي ودال إحصائيًا على المشاركة السياسية. في حين لم يظهر تأثير معنوي للتعرض للمعلومات السياسية على القلق السياسي. كما تبين أن القلق السياسي يؤثر بشكل إيجابي ودال على المشاركة السياسية. إلا أن نتائج تحليل الوساطة أظهرت أن القلق السياسي لا يلعب دورًا وسيطًا في العلاقة بين التعرض للمعلومات السياسية والمشاركة السياسية. وتشير هذه النتائج إلى أن العوامل الانفعالية لا تمثل دائمًا آلية وسيطة في تشكيل السلوك السياسي في العصر الرقمي.
