Abstract

INDONESIA:

Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia (CIA) termasuk di antara efek samping kemoterapi yang berdampak signifikan terhadap kualitas hidup pasien. Masyarakat Nusa Tenggara Timur secara turun-temurun memanfaatkan kombinasi minyak biji kemiri (Aleurites moluccanus), daun kembang sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), akar gantung beringin (Ficus benjamina), daun mangkokan (Polyscias scutellaria), dan daun waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus) sebagai ramuan penumbuh dan perawatan rambut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengoptimalkan Ramuan Etnomedisin NTT (RENTT) sebagai alternatif pengobatan alami pada CIA melalui metode Taguchi’s Orthogonal Stimulus Response (OSRM) pada Minitab 22 serta mengevaluasi aktivitas antioksidannya melalui uji DPPH untuk menentukan kombinasi RENTT antioksidan tertinggi. Selanjutnya dilakukan evaluasi aktivitas antioksidan dan efektivitasnya terhadap pertumbuhan rambut pada berat mencit (Mus musculus) jantan. Penelitian dilakukan pada 35 ekor mencit jantan berusia 2-3 bulan. Tikus dikelompokkan secara acak menjadi 5 kelompok, yaitu kontrol negatif (VCO), kontrol positif (minoksidil 5%), kontrol normal I, kontrol normal II (VCO dan Tween 80 5%), dan kelompok uji RENTT. Kerontokan rambut diinduksi menggunakan croton oil 5%. Perlakuan pada setiap kelompok dilakukan selama 28 hari. Pengamatan terhadap peningkatan berat rambut diamati menggunakan timbangan analitik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi 3 hasil pengujian DPPH menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi dengan nilai IC₅₀ sebesar 27,468 ppm. Pada uji pertumbuhan rambut, kelompok RENTT kombinasi 3 memberikan peningkatan berat rambut tertinggi sebesar 0,003 g pada hari ke-28. Dengan demikian, RENTT dengan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi terbukti efektif merangsang pertumbuhan rambut dan berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai alternatif terapi alami untuk mengatasi CIA.

Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia (CIA) is among the side effects of chemotherapy that significantly impact patients’ quality of life. The people of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) have traditionally used a combination of candlenut oil (Aleurites moluccanus), hibiscus leaves (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), banyan aerial roots (Ficus benjamina), mangkokan leaves (Polyscias scutellaria), and waru leaves (Hibiscus tiliaceus) as a herbal formulation for hair growth and care. This study aims to optimize the NTT Ethnomedicine Formulation (RENTT) as a natural alternative treatment for CIA using Taguchi’s Orthogonal Stimulus Response Method (OSRM) in Minitab 22, and to evaluate its antioxidant activity through the DPPH assay to determine the RENTT combination with the highest antioxidant activity. Furthermore, antioxidant activity and its effectiveness on hair growth were evaluated using male mice (Mus musculus) based on hair weight. The study was conducted on 35 male mice aged 2–3 months. The mice were randomly divided into five groups: negative control (VCO), positive control (5% minoxidil), normal control I, normal control II (VCO and 5% Tween 80), and the RENTT test group. Hair loss was induced using 5% croton oil. Each group received treatment for 28 days. Hair growth was monitored by measuring hair weight using an analytical balance. The results showed that Combination 3 obtained from the DPPH assay exhibited the highest antioxidant activity, with an IC₅₀ value of 27.468 ppm. In the hair growth test, the RENTT Combination 3 group demonstrated the greatest increase in hair weight, reaching 0,003 g on day 28. Thus, RENTT with the highest antioxidant activity was proven effective in stimulating hair growth and has the potential to be developed as a natural alternative therapy for managing CIA.
