Abstract
INDONESIA:
Pendahuluan: Diabetes melitus (DM) merupakan penyakit metabolik yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada organ testis akibat stres oksidatif. Tanaman Clinacanthus nutans memiliki kandungan fitokimia antioksidan yang dapat menetralkan stres oksidatif. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol daun C. nutans pada gambaran histopatologi testis tikus model diabetes melitus. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan 30 ekor tikus dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, yaitu K1 (tikus tanpa perlakuan), K2 (tikus DM tanpa pemberian ekstrak), P1 (tikus DM dengan dosis perlakuan 100mg/kgBB), P2 (tikus DM dengan dosis perlakuan 200mg/kgBB), P3 (tikus DM dengan dosis perlakuan 400mg/kgBB). Setelah 28 hari perlakuan, tikus diterminasi dan diambil jaringan testisnya untuk dilakukan pengamatan histopatologi. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok K2 didapatkan jumlah sel Sertoli, sel Leydig dan diameter tubulus seminiferus yang signifikan lebih rendah dibanding K1, sedangkan P1, P2, dan P3 memiliki jumlah sel Sertoli, sel Leydig dan diameter tubulus seminiferus lebih tinggi dibanding K2. Kesimpulan: Pemberian ekstrak etanol 70% daun Clinacanthus nutans berpengaruh signifikan terhadap jumlah sel Leydig, sel Sertoli, dan diameter tubulus seminiferus pada testis tikus model diabetes melitus.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease that can cause damage to the testicles due to oxidative stress. The Clinacanthus nutans plant contains antioxidant phytochemicals that neutralize oxidative stress. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of C. nutans leaf ethanol oxtract in improving the testes histopathological features of DM model rats. Method: The study used 30 rats divided into 5 groups: K1 (rats without treatment), K2 (DM rats without extract), P1 (DM rats treated with 100 mg/kgBB), P2 (DM rats treated with 200 mg/kgBB), and P3 (DM rats treated with 400 mg/kgBB). After 28 days of treatment, the rats were euthanized, and their testes tissues were examined histopathologically. Result: The results showed that group K2 had significantly lower numbers of Sertoli cells, Leydig cells, and seminiferous tubule diameter compared to K1, while P1, P2, and P3 had higher numbers of Sertoli cells, Leydig cells, and seminiferous tubule diameter compared to K2. Conclusion: The administration of 70% ethanol extract of C. nutans leaves significantly improved on the number of Leydig cells, Sertoli cells, and seminiferous tubule diameter in the testes of diabetic model rats.
