يقدّم مذكرات السفر "تذكار الصبا" لمحمد لطفي جمعة سرداً لرحلة تجمع بين الملاحظة الموضوعية والتأمل الذاتي، من خلال أسلوب لغوي وصفي مليء بالمعاني الشخصية. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل تمثيلات تجربة السفر في هذا العمل اعتماداً على نظرية أدب الرحلة لكارل طومبسون، التي تشمل ثلاثة جوانب رئيسية: تصوير العالم، وتمثيل الآخر، وكشف الذات. نوع هذه الدراسة هو نوع وصفي نوعي. البيانات الأولية مأخوذة من سرد الكتاب، أما البيانات الثانوية فمستمدة من كتب ومجلات ومقالات تتعلق بنظرية أدب الرحلة والدراسات السيرية الذاتية. استخدمت تقنية جمع البيانات أسلوبي القراءة والتدوين، وتم تحليل البيانات باستخدام نموذج مايلز وهوبرمان الذي يتكون من تقليص البيانات، عرضها، واستخلاص النتائج. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن الكاتب لا يصف مدينة ليون كخلفية جغرافية فحسب، بل كمساحة للقاء الثقافي المعقد. فقد قام بتوثيق الحياة الاجتماعية والثقافية في المدينة بالتفصيل (تصوير العالم)، وتمثيل المجتمع الفرنسي من منظور المسافر الشرقي (تمثيل الآخر)، والتأمل في نضاله كطالب أجنبي مسلم يواجه الاغتراب والضغوط النفسية وأزمة الهوية (كشف الذات). تبيّن هذه الدراسة أن منهج أدب الرحلة فعال في تحليل النصوص السيرية الذاتية العربية الحديثة، ويكشف عن ديناميكيات الهوية، والصدام الثقافي، وعملية التفاوض الذاتي في سياق الشتات الطلابي.

ABSTRACT

The travel memoirs Tidzkar al-Shaba by Muhammad Luthfi Jum'ah presents a travel narrative that blends objective observation with subjective reflection, conveyed through a descriptive and deeply personal style. Utilizing Carl Thompson’s theory of travel writing, this study explores how the text represents the world not merely as a geographical backdrop but as a dynamic cultural encounter. Through this lens, the narrative illustrates how the author engages in reporting the world, representing the other, and revealing the self. The research reveals that the representation of travel in the novel encapsulates these three dimensions effectively. The author reports the world by portraying the city of Lyon with vivid geographical, social, and cultural details, presenting it as a place of both beauty and challenge for a foreign traveler. In revealing the self, the journey becomes a medium for introspection, where the author contemplates his identity as an Egyptian, a Muslim, and a young intellectual navigating experiences of alienation, poverty, and moral conflict, while simultaneously affirming his spiritual and nationalistic values. The narrative also represents the other through the lens of an Eastern traveler encountering Western society, capturing the lifestyles, values, and gender dynamics of Lyon’s people with a blend of admiration, critique, and cultural comparison. This study contributes to the field of literary theory by demonstrating how travel writing can serve as a powerful analytical framework for modern Arabic autobiographical narratives, particularly those emerging from diasporic student experiences. Carl Thompson’s theoretical approach reveals that travel writing is not limited to factual documentation, but is also a reflective space where identity is constructed, cultural dialogues are negotiated, and the self is examined. In this way, the research expands the application of travel literature theory to a contemporary Arab context, an area that remains underrepresented in Indonesian literary scholarship.

Catatan perjalanan Tidzkar as-Shabā karya Muhammad Luthfi Jum’ah menghadirkan narasi perjalanan yang memadukan pengamatan objektif dengan refleksi subjektif, disampaikan melalui gaya bahasa deskriptif dan sarat makna personal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji representasi pengalaman perjalanan dalam novel tersebut berdasarkan teori sastra perjalanan Carl Thompson, yang mencakup tiga aspek utama: reporting the world, representing the other, dan revealing the self. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data primer berasal dari narasi dalam novel Tidzkar as-Shabā, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari buku, jurnal, dan artikel yang relevan dengan teori sastra perjalanan dan kajian autobiografi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode baca dan catat, dan analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan menurut model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penulis menggambarkan kota Lyon tidak hanya sebagai latar geografis, tetapi sebagai ruang pertemuan budaya yang kompleks. Ia melaporkan kehidupan sosial dan budaya kota tersebut secara detail (reporting the world), menggambarkan masyarakat Lyon sebagai “yang lain” melalui lensa pelancong Timur (representing the other), dan merefleksikan perjuangannya sebagai pelajar asing Muslim dalam menghadapi keterasingan, tekanan psikologis, dan krisis identitas (revealing the self). Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan sastra perjalanan efektif digunakan dalam menganalisis teks autobiografis Arab modern, serta mengungkap dinamika identitas, konfrontasi budaya, dan proses negosiasi diri dalam konteks diaspora pelajar.
