في هذا البحث، تم تحليل القصة القصيرة "غرباء في الليل" للكاتب يَزَن نَعسان من خلال مقاربة علم النفس الأدبي باستخدام نظرية كارين هورني، التي تُركّز على الاحتياجات العصابية والصراعات النفسية الأساسية. يهدف البحث إلى استكشاف الديناميكيات العاطفية بين الشخصيات، وخاصة كيف تؤثر الصدمات الماضية والاحتياجات غير المُلبّاة في بناء العلاقات الإنسانية. يعتمد البحث على المنهج النوعي الوصفي-التحليلي، باستخدام النص الأدبي كمصدر رئيسي مدعوم بمراجع نظرية. أظهرت النتائج أن الشخصيات تعاني من احتياجات عصابية مثل الحُبّ، وقبول الآخرين، والاستقلالية، ما يولّد هشاشة نفسية تتجلّى في الخوف من الفقدان والرفض. تعكس العلاقات بين الشخصيات مزيجًا من التعلّق العاطفي والانغلاق الدفاعي، مما يُبرز تعقيد التفاعل الإنساني عند مواجهة التوترات الداخلية. يُوصي البحث بدراسات مستقبلية على أعمال أدبية عربية أخرى، لتعميق فهم التداخل بين البُعد النفسي والنصي والثقافي، وتسليط الضوء على عمق المشاعر والعلاقات الإنسانية في الأدب الحديث.

ABSTRACT

This study is based on the psychological phenomena in human relationships, which are often characterized by love and emotional fragility, as portrayed in the short story “Strangers in the Night” by Yazan Na’saan. The objective of this research is to analyze the dynamics of the characters’ relationships in the story using literary psychology, specifically Karen Horney’s theory, which emphasizes neurotic needs and basic human conflicts. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The primary data source is the text of the short story, while secondary data include theoretical references on Horney’s psychology and other relevant sources. The analysis focuses on identifying neurotic symptoms in the main characters, the motives behind their relationships, and the psychological influences on their actions and interpersonal interactions. The findings reveal that the relationships between characters are driven by the need for affection and security but are simultaneously overshadowed by fear of rejection and loneliness. The protagonist exhibits neurotic needs for love and acceptance, which significantly affect how he builds connections with others. The study concludes that the story reflects the emotional complexities of human dynamics, where love exists alongside inner uncertainty and fragility. This research recommends further studies of Middle Eastern literary works through psychological approaches to gain deeper insights into emotional depth and character interactions.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena psikologis dalam hubungan manusia yang kerap diliputi oleh cinta dan kerapuhan emosional, sebagaimana tergambar dalam cerpen “Orang Asing di Malam Hari” karya Yazan Na’saan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji dinamika hubungan antar tokoh dalam cerpen tersebut melalui pendekatan psikologi sastra dengan teori Karen Horney yang menyoroti kebutuhan neurotis dan konflik dasar manusia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analisis, menggunakan data primer berupa teks cerpen “Orang Asing di Malam Hari” dan data sekunder berupa referensi teori psikologi Horney serta sumber-sumber lain yang relevan. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi gejala neurotis pada tokoh utama, motif relasi antar tokoh, serta pengaruh kondisi psikologis terhadap tindakan dan hubungan interpersonal dalam cerita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antar tokoh dalam cerpen tersebut dilandasi oleh kebutuhan untuk mendapatkan kasih sayang dan rasa aman, tetapi juga dibayang-bayangi oleh ketakutan akan penolakan dan kesepian. Tokoh utama menunjukkan gejala kebutuhan neurotis akan cinta dan penerimaan, yang kemudian memengaruhi cara ia menjalin hubungan dengan tokoh lain. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa cerpen ini mencerminkan kompleksitas dinamika emosional manusia yang terikat oleh cinta namun rapuh oleh ketidakpastian batin. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kajian lebih lanjut terhadap karya-karya sastra Timur Tengah menggunakan pendekatan psikologi untuk memahami kedalaman emosi dan relasi antar tokoh secara lebih menyeluruh.
