Efektivitas tabir surya dari sediaan hand and body lotion ekstrak kulit lemon California (Citrus limon L. Burm. f.)

Indonesia merupakan negara tropis yang menerima paparan sinar matahari tinggi, sehingga berisiko menyebabkan kerusakan kulit akibat radiasi ultraviolet (UV). Tabir surya digunakan untuk melindungi kulit dari efek negatif sinar UV, termasuk penuaan dini dan kanker kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan sediaan Hand and Body Lotion dengan ekstrak kulit lemon (Citrus limon L.) berkhasiat sebagai tabir surya dengan nilai SPF tinggi dan tidak menyebabkan iritasi pada kulit. Metode eksperimental digunakan dengan tiga formula lotion yang mengandung ekstrak kulit lemon dengan konsentrasi 3%, 5%, dan 7%. Evaluasi nilai SPF dilakukan secara in vitro menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis dan di analisis data dengan SPSS 20, sementara uji iritasi dilakukan pada tikus putih galur Wistar dan dihitung kategori iritasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai SPF meningkat seiring dengan peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak kulit lemon dalam formulasi, dengan hasil terbaik pada konsentrasi 7% yang mencapai kategori proteksi tinggi (39,43) dan analisis antar formula yang adanya perbedaan signifikan antar formula. Uji iritasi menunjukkan bahwa formula 3% tidak menyebabkan iritasi, 5% iritasi sangat ringan sedangkan formula 7% menunjukkan iritasi sedang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sediaan hand and body lotion dengan ekstrak kulit lemon efektif sebagai tabir surya dengan nilai SPF tinggi, namun perlu mempertimbangkan potensi iritasi pada konsentrasi tinggi.

Indonesia is a tropical country that receives high sun exposure, so it is at risk of causing skin damage due to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The Sunscreen is used to protect the skin from the negative effects of UV rays, including premature aging and skin cancer. This study aims to prove that Hand and Body Lotion preparations with lemon peel extract (Citrus limon L.) are efficacious as sunscreens with high SPF values and do not cause irritation to the skin. The experimental method was used with three lotion formulas containing lemon peel extract with concentrations of 3%, 5%, and 7%. The evaluation of SPF values was carried out in vitro using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and data analysis with SPSS 20, while irritation tests were carried out on white rats of the Wistar strain and the irritation category was calculated. The results showed that the SPF value increased with the increase in the concentration of lemon peel extract in the formulation, with the best result at the 7% concentration which reached the high protection category (39.43) and the analysis between formulas where there were significant differences between formulas. The irritation test showed that the 3% formula did not cause irritation, the 5% irritation was very mild while the 7% formula showed moderate irritation. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that hand and body lotion preparations with lemon peel extract are effective as sunscreens with high SPF values, but it is necessary to consider the potential for irritation at high concentrations.
