Abstract
ABSTRACT:
Sunscreen is a cosmetic product designed to protect the skin from the harmful effects of sunlight. Green tea contains catechins, a type of polyphenol compound known for its antioxidant properties. Catechins are capable of absorbing UV-B rays within the wavelength range of 290–320 nm. The effectiveness of sunscreen is commonly evaluated through the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) test, conducted in vitro using a UV-Visible spectrophotometer. An in silico approach using molecular docking is employed to examine the interactions between green tea compounds and target receptors. The results indicate that the SPF value of the cream slightly decreases with prolonged UV exposure but remains within a stable range. The formulations also exhibit good physical stability across all variations. Furthermore, molecular docking reveals that catechins interact strongly with binding pockets and form stable interactions, positioning them as promising inhibitors of tyrosinase.
