Abstract

ABSTRACT

Literature is the result of human creation through emotion and imaginative language and usually it describes life. The study of literature can be divided into four kinds: novel, poetry, drama, and prose. To study literature is very subjective, since every single person has a different comprehension, interpretation, and impression after reading a literary work.

Drama as one of literary works is a composition that delineates life and human activity by means of presenting various actions and dialogues among characters. Dealing with this study, the writer formulates two problems: what are sociological aspects on Mangir drama by Pramodya Ananta Toer?٠ And what are political aspects on Mangir drama by pramodya Ananta Toer?.

In analyzing this drama, the writer used a descriptive-qualitative method because he would like to describe the real condition existing in the object he investigated. While the approach used was an objective approach because he only covered certain aspects extrinsically existing on sociological and political aspects. And the data taken from Mangir drama text related ,to sociological and political aspects.

After formulating the problems and analyzing the data deeply, the writer finds out the result: There are sociological and political aspects on Mangir drama. In sociological aspect, the writer finds out social class stratification and culture (it consists art, habit and moral). And in political aspect, the writer finds out power, conflict, and making decision
