If we realize, that the women occupation as an inferior is not only found in the real phenomenon but also found in the fictional phenomenon such as in a novel. Mostly we find some novels describe the women as a powerless creature. There were very limited novels that describe the figure of powerful women, consequently, the women is considered as a weak creature both textually and contextually.
The purpose of this study is to describe the values of emancipation and the author’s concept of feminism as reflected in his novel “Perempuan Jogja”. The novel tells about how three women from different social background use their own way in solving their problem.
The study used the descriptive qualitative research in discussing the values of emancipation and the author’s concept of feminism as reflected in the novel “Perempuan Jogja”. Through the novel we will find several values of emancipation such as the emancipation to abolish the discrimination of education, the women freedom, the emancipation to abolish the men suppression toward the women.
Related to the author’s concept of feminism, we can invert from the novel that the human degree is not determined by sex. So, men and women has their own right to get their freedom. The woman should have bravery to protest injustice against herself. And the most important thing is that the woman should not leave the loyalty and devotion to their husband in order to be called as a modem and emancipated woman.
By this study the researcher hopes that the readers can catch out the message of the novel ،، Perempuan Jogja” more clearly and also I wish to the next other researcher would give an extra attention toward this topic.
