A psychological analysis of marielles personality and emotion in Vanished by Danielle Steel

ABSTRACT

We know that literature reflects the human life. Literature is concerned with thought, feeling or attitude. We study literature, especially novel by reading novel we can enrich and enlarge our experience and interpretation of life.

This is a literary study seen from psychological aspects. In this study, the writer analyze Danielle Steel’s novel entitled ،،Vanished” She tries to study about personality and emotion. She also studies the intrinsic or extrinsic parts of the novel.

The writer in this thesis wants to find out, the intrinsic aspects of the novel, the characteristics of Marielle’ personality, Marielle’s emotion and the relationship between Marielle’s personality and emotion.

The writer employs a qualitative research and uses description as her technique of this analysis. She collects the data by using the library research method. She gathers the data from the primary source, especially the novel itself entitled “Vanished” by Danielle Steel. She uses objective analysis, analyzing from psychological aspects.

After analyzing the data, it is found that Marielle is able to balance her emotion toward her problems and she is able to fulfill the requirement of society. She keeps herself strong toward the painful uneasiness that bring her into the emotional balance, emotional control and emotional stress.

The writer hopes that this thesis can be useful for students who desire to conduct a literary study, especially novel. She suggests that the students, who are interested in literature, should read this novel.
