Abstract

ABSTRACT

There are some word-formations usually used by a group of people. For examples: Compounding, Borrowing, Prefixes, and Suffixes, etc. This phenomenon happens at MIN Malang I, when Javanese students make conversation. In their conversation they often use Indonesian word-formation as a result from the mixing of Indonesian and Javanese language, then the Indonesian language used by Javanese students at MIN Malang I is different from Indonesian language that is used by native people. There are deviations of the Indonesian standard. For example: ,The Indonesian standard of the words “mainannya” becomes “mainane” (his toy), “menunggu” becomes “nunggu” (to wait), etc.

This analysis focuses on the Word-Formation Processes of Spoken Indonesian Language used by Javanese students at MIN Malang I. Moreover, this study is also presented about review of the related literature, like code mixing, bilingualism (types of bilinguals and two types of bilinguals in Indonesian), morphophonemix (assimilation, dissimilation, ellipsis, metathesis, and shandi), word, word-formation processes, affixation (prefixes, suffixes, infixes, circumfixes) and previous study.

This study is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of the study were Javanese students at MIN Malang I. The source of the data were the words (Indonesian word-formations). Research instruments used to get the data were non participant observation and structured interview. The data were analyzed by identifying, classifying, describing of the word-formation processes that is used by Javanese students at MIN Malang 1 and making conclusion.

Based on the research findings and discussion that there were some Indonesian word-formations used by Javanese students at MIN Malang 1. The word¬formation processes of spoken Indonesian language found in the field of prefixes, suffixes, infixes, and circumfixes.
