Study on javanese world-view and life attitude on Perilaku Kelas Menengah Indonesia by Darmanto Jatman

ABSTRACT

The study of the World views and the life attitudes in society related to the philosophy of the people who live in the society. The philosophy approves a truth not based on a conviction, but based on radical researches by using human’s common sense. Then the human’s common sense leads to human’s world-view.

This Study was started from the understanding of the writer toward the Javanese terms in article of ،،Perilaku Kelas Menengah Indonesia” by Darmanto Jatman and the purpose of the study is to describe Javanese word-views and the Javanese life attitudes on the article, and this research also describe the special terms that related to the Javanese word view and the Javanese life attitudes.

This research is descriptive qualitative research, the data analysis are about four articles that taken from “Perilaku Kelas Menengah Indonesia” by Darmanto Jatman, the articles are ،،Etos Keija Manajer Jawa” (EKMJ), ،،Kecemburuan Sukses di Kalangan Selebritis” (KSKS), ،،Mengembangkan Dorongan Berprestasi” (MDB), and “Mengapa Pria Menyimpan Wanita?” (MPMW).

The articles show the Javanese world view that involving the view to God, universe, and humanity. ,Those are pracaya lan mituhu means believe to the presence the God and His Messenger and always does all His demands that were conveyed through His Messenger, jumbuhing kawula lan Gusti means unifying the creature with his God, Raja Gung Bimantara means a pure leader, wangsit means revelation, kaweruh means the leader has knowledge level owned by some people, tinarbuka having been opened his inner eye.

The articles also show the Javanese life attitudes which are applied on the Javanese behaviors. The behaviors involve the good behavior and the bad behavior؛ Those are narimo and sokur or accept fact patiently, sabar or capable for facing test given by God, dharma which means to dare to be sacrificed whatever for sake of truth, jujur means to say and act honestly in accordance with the real situation, guyup and rukun mean to give priority of togetherness without being contradiction or fighting, mamayu hayuning bawana or maintaining welfare and perpetuation of the world which are manifested in behavior to love other creatures, and not torture them. cethil or bahil means stingy, nyacad means finds fault or not appreciates to work of other person, crobo or grusa-grusu means improper act, hypocrite, aleman means spoiled that cause someone cannot being autonomous, drengki or meri means envious to someone that getting success and srei means dislikes when there is a person being happy, mbandrek means to give himself passion free rein.
