Abstract
ABSTRACT
The relationship between language and society cannot be seen just as the tool of interaction to each other, but it is a need to defend their life. Related to language, humor is one kind of languages used to interact and considerate during human’s life. Humor becomes one of their ways to make friendship stronger. This research focused on analyzing the types and the contexts of humors used by some farmers in Guluk- Guluk Sumenep Madura, called Madurese humors. Some of them use some humors in daily life to consider good relationship, consideration and criticism to several phenomena in their lives.
From those phenomena, the researcher conducted this research by using the following question (1) what are the types of Madurese humors; and (2) what are the contexts of Madurese humors. By those questions the researcher formulated the types of Madurese humors into paparegan, kreta bhasa, bak tebakan (riddles), and de ’ kande 'en / akeller (funny conversation). The writer then, classified those humors into some general types of humors, pun, conundrum, and banter
To answer those questions, the researcher used descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected from Madurese natural conversations in Guluk- Guluk Sumenep Madura. There are two instalments to conduct this research; those are interview and observation, the researcher used field note to keep the original data. The result of this research shows that Madurese in Guluk-Guluk Sumenep Madura used three types of humors. Those are pun, consist of paparegan and kreta bhasa, conundrum, consist of riddles called bak tebbakan and banter, and consist of funny conversations, called de "kande ’ en. Those types are included in social process. Finally, based on the result, the researcher looks forward to readers and further researchers to interpret the meaning and analyze the contexts of lots of humors, which can develop linguistic studies.
