A study of walikan language used by Malang Teenagers

ABSTRACT

walikan language is one of local language which exists and develops in Malang society, and it’s common called by Walikan language. It’s mean that they reversed their word to get the new words, hi this research, the researcher found the unique of slang language which created and used by Malangese in their daily conversation. Slang is nonstandard language which consist of words and senses that are often use by someone to communicate especially for the teenagers. One of the slang words such as: the word ،،saya” becomes ،،ayas” (I)١ ،،makan” becomes “nakam” (to eat), etcetera. This study focused on what kinds of walikan language are used by Malang teenagers and how the words formulated when they are combines with the affixes.

'This study is a descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this study is Malang teenagers in Kelurahan Sukoharjo Malang. Source of the data were the words of slang which are spoken by them. The processes of obtaining the data are participant observation and un-structured interview. After getting the data, the researcher classifies and identifies the words based on their style, and then analyzes the words based on the problem of the study, which covering kinds of Walikan language and Walikan formation when the word combines with the affixes.

The results of the study that we found are kinds of Walikan language which is used by Malang teenagers, which consist of three kinds, such as: firstly, complete reversion which is covering of simple wards and compound wards, partial reversion, and omission reversion. And secondly, about the words formation when they combine with the affixes. Such as: prefix, suffixes, and circum-fix, with المه the function when they combine with the words.

Finally, the researcher hopes that this research can give the information to the people who read this thesis, and can give the beneficial contribution to the students, especially for further research in the same topic.
