Abstract
ABSTRACT
Taboo indicates that something is forbidden or banned with two important senses; something that is set apart because it is sacred and something that is avoided or prohibited because of social custom, it may be considered as unclean or dangerous. Usually it replace with euphemistic expression to manipulate the emotional response and to avoid the possible loss face. Euphemisms taboo indicates as the word or phrase which replaces or ،cover up' the taboo word, or which is used to avoid either fearful or unpleasant subject, and sometime used to implying something without saying it. The research question formulate as follow: (1) what are taboo expressed in ،،Nah Ini.
Kocak” 2) ؟). What are Euphemism Taboo expressed in ،،Nah Ini Kocak” ?
This study is descriptive qualitative research as it concern with the description of taboo and euphemism expressed in SCTV’s program of “Nah Ini Kocak”. The design requires data presenting form of word and phrases rather than numbers. In order to obtain the valid data, I apply observation instrument through watching the program, recording the dialogues, listening to the dialogues and taking note of every possible taboo and euphemism that are spoken by the players.
The result of this study are that the taboo which are expressed in ،،Nah Ini Kocak” program are classified in to six categories namely profanity (consist of supernatural being and religious taboo), cursing abuse, behavioral violence, relative name, bodily function and death. And the euphemisms taboo expressed in “Nah Ini Kocak” are divided into three classification namely euphemism ،Treadmill’, euphemisms for profane: (consist of religious euphemism and sexual euphemism), and death euphemism.
Based on the data analysis I have some suggestion for the viewer of television program, to filter the entertainment source and wise in judging the value of the entertainments before enjoying them. For the reader, hopefully in judging the value of this research, do not shows in those taboo but try to look in that scientific aspect. There are many positive aspect make them colorful such US the euphemism taboo, etc. And use euphemism in the right place; do not use it to devise someone Finally, the students and researchers who are interested in analyzing the similar topic to be able to develop this study by analyzing different point of view because there are still many elements that have not been analyzed yet, such as dysphemism (the opposite of euphemism).
