Abstract
ABSTRACT
The development of science and technology has a very significant influence on education sector that result in innovation in the use of modem technology as media in teaching- learning process. The use of media indicates its superiority in helping the teachers to transfer the materials faster and students can get or understand the message more easily. In short, media play important role and are considered as integral part of the teaching system. Moreover, the kinds of media that can be used by the teachers in teaching and learning activities, can be visual media, audio media, audiovisual media, and others media..
There are three problems which are investigated in this study: 1) what kinds of media are used in MIN Malang I, 2) How do the teachers use media in English teaching and 3) what kinds of media do the English teachers mostly use. The purpose - of this study are to find the answers of the problems, they are: to find out the kinds of media which are used by the English teachers in MIN Malang I, to find out the ways of using media in English teaching, and to find out the kinds of media which are mostly use by the English teachers. This research is expected to have some advantages, practically, for English teachers to know more information about the use of media. And theoretically the finding of this study is as a contribution for the development of media in teaching English
This study applied descriptive approach. The data are not concerned with any statistical analysis. For getting the representative data, the researcher used observation, interview and documentation. Whereas to analyze the data, she uses three steps: she saw the whole data that was collected, and that she discussed and interpreted the whole data according to the research problems. Finally she makes conclusions fro m the result of analysis.
Based on the research finding and discussions, there are many kinds of media that can be used by the English teachers in the fourth grade and the fifth grade. Sometimes the English teachers at MIN Malang I use different media for the same materials, but they frequently used different media for different materials. Most of the media were used by teachers, however there are also several media infrequently used by teachers, since the numbers of them are not proportion with the numbers of students and need a long time.
