Abstract
ABSTRACT
The Javanese culture consist of traditional, one of them is Javanese wedding ceremony. It is a bride-bridegroom met in a new life. In Javanese wedding ceremony which is used the expressions belong to the Shaman of wedding ceremony and the Master of ceremony. Then, the Shaman of wedding ceremony is a man who has a ritual power to conduct the Javanese wedding ceremony and the Master of ceremony is a man or woman who gains in the formal ceremonies. Furthermore, it has a good meaning. It is still keep carefully by the society and it usually conduct from one generation, especially in Sambi- Ringinrejo - Kediri. That is why the writer interested in conducting this linguistics research. The problem of this study is what are the philosophical meanings of expressions spoken by the Shaman of wedding ceremony and the Master of ceremony in Javanese wedding ceremony? The objective of this study to know explanation of the philosophical meanings of that expressions.
The writer will limits her analysis based on the expressions used by the Shaman of wedding ceremony and the Master of ceremony in Javanese wedding ceremony. Moreover, this study will give contribute to the area of linguistics and enrich references especially for other researchers.
The writer uses descriptive qualitative in conducting the research because she observed, interviewed and transcribed the data of their expressions. In addition, she didn’t account the data in numbering at all.
The subject of this study were the people who really native people in Kediri and native worker of Shaman of wedding ceremony and the Master of ceremony and who have high capability of answering the question given by the researcher. The data of this study were collected by interviewing, observing directly the informants, she used many instruments, such as recording, field note, interview to obtain the complete data.
To avoid bias in this research, she used triangulation to test a validity of the data she got. In this case, she used two types in triangulation. First, methodological triangulation, second, triangulation of data sources.
The result of this study is firstly, the expressions used by the Shaman of wedding ceremony when put the ritual offering in Javanese wedding ceremony. Secondly, the expressions used by Master of ceremony in opening ceremony, in welcoming the guest, in the bride-bridegroom “respectful” to their parent. So far the writer conclude that in every expressions consist of the philosophical meanings or message for their family, guest and especially for the bride-bridegroom.
Finally, the writer suggest the future researcher conduct study with wider scope, more complete data and discussions. She expects that the result of the study will be useful for those who are going study further about Javanese message.
