Abstract

ABSTRACT

Literature as an expression of thought, idea, emotion and feeling of someone that is expressed in writing Literature is one of language studies. By studying literature, we can find an understanding and pleasure. One of literary studies is figurative language. Figurative language is saying one thing in term something else. Using figurative language we can understand the condition of the writer is. Figurative language often showed in the lyrics of song especially Islamic songs. One of Islamic songs is sholawat meaning an invocation to Prophet Muhammad SAW.

This study is aimed to find out the figurative language and message in the lyrics of A’budu album by An Nabawiyyah. This album is their seventh album and content of six songs. The lyrics are written in Arabic language. So, this kind of song is called sholawat. An Nabawiyyah is one of invocation groups from Pesantren Langitan Tuban.

In analyzing this lyric, the writer used descriptive qualitative design By translating, analyzing and classifying the lyric of song, also interviewing the informant the writer found some kinds of figurative language and message in this album.

The writer found kinds of figurative language that exist in this album. There are personification, hyperbole, alliteration, antithesis, symbol, irony and repetition. The dominant figurative language in this album is repetition. The messages are about asking to the Believers to say express thanks to Allah SWT and say a respectful greeting to The Noble Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Finally, the writer suggests to the students or the other researchers to translate and understand in analyzing the figurative language, message of the arabic lyrics. The students who want analyze literary works, they analyze the material that is written in Arabic language, especially in analyzing in the lyrics of songs that are written in Arabic.
