Abstract
ABSTRACT
We know that many people like reading literature either for knowledge or even just for entertainment. Literature is concerned with thoughts, feelings, attitudes, etc. Most of Novelists in their writing, was usually influenced by what they watch and what they feel in their environment such as love, injustice, poverty, murder, and so on. So, their relation is closely related to social and psychological aspects. Psychology, as we know is essential thing to know our behaviors and our actions. Here, the writer analyzed what kinds of the character which is found in “A Tale of Two Cities” novel is and what the psychological aspects are expressed in the novel.
To conduct this, the writer obtains and collects the data by finding the book used as sources of the study, selecting and picking the data, then arranging it systematically that are refering to the problem of the study.
In “A Tale of Two Cities” novel, there are six main characters, they are: Sydney Carton, Charles Damay, Lucie Manette, Doctor Manette, Jarvis Lorry, and Madame Defarge as a round character and the other as flat character. The main character in “A Tale of Two Cities” novel have many experiences of trait personal disposition and the related emotion to the motivated behavior.
In this study, the writer just analyzed the novel based on extrinsic aspect especially psychological aspect. There are many field that can be investigated in the novel such as imagery, sociological aspect, feminism, moral value, and so on. However, it is hoped that this study can be used as references for further researchers.
