A study on the religiosity value of Javanese Proverbs

ABSTRACT

Language is the most important tool for social communication between people in a society. Language is also a mirror of a social phenomenon. It relates with the structure of social and value of the society. There are a lot of useful value that we can take from experience and action of the people. Those experiences and action become a culture that passed to one generation to the next generation. This study focuses on the intrinsic aspect of Javanese language and tries to analyze the religiosity value of Javanese proverbs.

The purpose of this study is to get answer the problems about the religiosity value of the Javanese proverb that is shown on the meaning of the proverbs such as about goodness and badness behavior, about promise, and about arrogance. There are some ways to accomplish the purpose of the study. First, reading and understanding in detail all of Javanese proverb that already have documented or published. Second, searching the problem dealing with the purpose of the study. The last, drawing conclusion based on the data.

This study is done by using expressive approach and the library research technique, starting by collecting all possible information in the form of books that may have relation to the study.

From the discussion, it is found that there are many wise messages that we can take the lesson of the religiosity value of the Javanese proverb. We are supposed to be able to differ the goodness and badness.

From the conclusion, we can understand about goodness behavior that we must follow on and badness behavior that we must keep away from. We are also can understand about how important keep our promises to someone else and keep away from arrogance character.
