An analysis of humanity values and messages on the lyrics of best of the best Iwan Fals

ABSTRACT

Literature is creative and imaginative works of arts which can be used to express many aspect of life such as people emotion, ideas, feeling and thought. The aim of literature is to entertain and give pleasure to people. The reason why I choose a lyric as the subject of this research is for, a lyric, as one of literary works, has a uniqueness that is not owned by another literary work like a novel. It can be found as number of aspects and values-as well as in a real in it. One of them is humanity value.

One of literary work’s purposes is to express for humanity values. As a literary work, lyric consist of many humanity values. Since it’s composition is a reflection of human life. Through this literary work, the humanity values could be understood easily.

While the reason why 1 prefer to investigate the humanity values one because this selected lyrics entitled “Best of the Best Iwan Fais” contains more about humanity values in human life. The problem discussed here about the kinds of humanity values and messages found on the lyrics by Iwan. Taken from ten lyrics (Surat buat wakil rakyat, guru Oemar Bakri, mimpi yang terbeli, Ethiopia, sore tugu Pancoran, celoteh camar tolol dan cemar, tikus-tikus kantor, entah, Galang Rambu Anarki, dan sarjana muda). From the album ،،Best of the Best Iwan Fais”.

Generally the purpose of this work is to describe the humanity values on the lyrics of Iwan Fais. Whereas the specific purpose is to find out a description of love, death, good deed, honesty, justice, anxiety, anger and aggression, and joy that found on this lyrics and description the messages found on this lyrics. I hope that this work will be beneficial contribution and as reference for the literature related class also for all readers.

The method used in this study is qualitative research. The writer obtained and collected all data to be observed by looks for the lyrics of Iwan Fais that have humanity values, select ten lyrics as the source in this study, read this lyrics and try to understand the messages of it and mark all statements from the lyrics which are related to the problems are as the data of this study. To corroborate the data, triangulation is used in this study.

From the analysis, the writer concludes; firstly, humanity values exist on the lyrics of “Best of the Best Iwan Fais”. Those humanity values are: the principles of love, the principles of honesty, the principles of justice, the principles of anxiety, the principles of death, the principles of anger and aggression, the principles of joy. Secondly, the messages found in the lyrics of ،،Best of the Best Iwan Fais” contain more about critisized for the government who doesn’t care about the condition of people and broke the law in this country, so the messages are focussed on the social aspectjustice and humanity.

This perfect less work expectedly can enrich the understanding of humanity values in literary work in general. Then, the writer suggest the reader or the other researcher who want conduct similar study, they can analyze other values on the lyrics of Iwan Fais, likes moral values, and social aspect which can find in some of his lyrics.
