A study on javanese cultural values as manifested in Paniebar Semancat Magazine

ABSTRACT

The title of this study is “A Studv on Javanese Cultural Values as Manifested in “Paniebar Semangat” Magazine”. This Studv is in the form of descriptive-qualitative research in which the data are presented in the words form in order to describe Javanese Cultural Values as manifested in ،،Paniebar Semangat” magazine.

In tins study, the writer want to find out the kinds of Javanese cultural values as manifested in ،،Panicbar Semangat” magazine, and also to describe how that values manifested in ،،Paniebar Semangat” texts. The writer hopes that her studv will useful for science and knowledge, because she believes that it gives contribution for field of Sociolinguistics. Moreover, it gives information to the society about Javanese cultural values including language etiquette in communication of Javanese people as well as in non-verbal communication or verbal communication. The writer also hones that the information will usefill for the next researchers who want to investigate the same area or have different point of view about this topic.

The key instalment of this stud١' is the writer itself. The writer analyzes the text of “Paniebar Semangat” articles to collect the important data that are needed.

As the results of this study, the writer found seven kinds of Javanese cultural values manifested in ،،Paniebar Semangat” magazine they are: toto tentrem, gotong royong. sopan santun. andhap asor. rukun. hormat. and tepo seliro.

All of these values have characteristics to influence the way of expressing the feeling of the writer to the public. So. the wav of Javanese person in expressing his feeling is usually in the form of indirectness and vagueness, because the main aim of the messages is stated implicitly.
Based on the data analysis, the writer lias some suggestions that are important for communicators. They arc suggested to use Javanese cultural values as the basic knowledge of communication based on the norms of Javanese society such as; social norms and cultural norms, because it is useful for them in order to avoid misunderstanding. Even though they live in modem society, they should use Javanese values for its preservation. The writer also suggests to Javanese, especially for the young Javanese should use their cultural values well and also to study it. Finally, the writer suggests to the next researchers or the people who are interested in analyzing the similar topic to be able to develop this study by using different point of view, because there are still many elements that have not been analyzed vet.
