Abstract
ABSTRACT
Writing is one of the elements of a language. Writing needs well arranged sentences in order to understand what the writer means. Writing is as important as other language skills but needs more special skills than other language elements.
Writing needs special skills in arranging the idea in person's mind into the form of well arranged sentences. It takes a longer process and longer time that regular and continuous feedback is needed. To prove the importance of feedback, this research was emphasized on giving feedback on student's writing at STAIN Malang.
The aim of this thesis is, to know whether giving feedback on students’ writing give significant effect or not. To do this, Experimental research was used with one control and experimental groups. Experimental group received treatment from the researcher and the control group did not receive treatment at all.
The treatment that was used in this research was giving feedback on student’s weekly writing assignments. From the treatment, it was found out that the treatment had a significant effect in improving student’s writing especially Writing I material. It was resulted t score -16.030 with t table on (7=5% and df =19 was 1.73, it meant that t score >1 table, or -t score < -r table, which meant that t score was found on accepted Hl or "there is لاج significant effects on giving feedback on student’s writing at STAIN Malang”.
Based on this result, several suggestions are given. First, in having writing assignments, feedback is needed دلل order to improve tire students* writing؛ Second in order to have perfect research, the research is not done in the small scope as what the researcher did but Writing I, II, III, and !٧ materials are recommended to be investigated. Thirdly, scoring done in pair is recommended in order to have more reliable and valid data.
