A study on Code Mixing of Ex-Tulungagung male blue-collar workers employed in Malaysia

ABSTRACT

There are many people in 'fulungagung who employed in Malaysia. Some of them employed on plantation.؟ work. This thesis conducts on the ex Tulungagung male blue-collar workers whose job are on construction work. Based on their status, they divided into two kinds arc legal and illegal workers. But it probably doesn’t inhibited them to work and socialize, adapted to the people in a ne١١f culture. This research investigated people whom were employed in Malaysia for years. In this way their competence on Malay language would seem undoubted.

To live in a foreign country and be familiar with the culture would seem influenced them as immigrant workers, dominantly on the way of speaking, or influenced their native language. This phenomena made them unintentionally to mix both languages namely; their nativ٠e language; Javanese, and Malaysian as foreign anguage.

The research formula of this stud١' are what and how the mixed code used by the ex -Tulungagung male blue-collar workers employed in Malaysia. Based on these, the researcher need to search on the ex-Tulungagung male blue-collar workers employed in Malaysia.

Usually those workers people come back to Indonesia and spent their holidays with their family once in a year or in two year.؟. Those people usually visit one another of their friend of ex workers employed in Malaysia. While language mixing used when they met one ■another . This moment used by the researcher to observe it direct!}' and to record the flows conversation among them.

The research has objects to find out the fact of language mixing used and ho١v it’s used by ex-Tulungagung male blue-collar workers employed in Malaysia,

'fhe way on analyzing the data will mentioned as follows; the data gathered are transcribed, classified based on it’s mixture, deep interview and then analyzing the data to find out how the codes used h١٠ those workers.

The result of the mixing language are differentiated into three kinds; 1) The mixture of words, 2١ The mixture of phrases, 3١ The mixture of sentences, 4١ The mixture of particles. While the usage of language mixing because of some rea٠sons and wavs.

The fact of language mixing used b؛١ ex-Tulungagung male blue-collar workers employed in Malaysia is interesting phenon٦ena to be searched. It is as the information to the other researcher who interest on sociolinguistics study, especially on code mixing. The writer hopes this will be useful as the reference of the folowing studies to the other people who concern in this study.
