Abstract
ABSTRACT
There are no two speakers exactly alike although they used the same language. Because they live in different area or geographical. For example here is when Javanese spoken by the speakers in different social groups shows systematic differences the groups are said to speak different dialects of the same language. It often rising misunderstanding between speakers who used the same language and different dialect. Generally, the differences of dialect, occurred in lexical meaning, sound and personal pronouns. Usually, they are often rise misunderstanding between two speakers who have different dialect in their communication. Therefore, this study will focus this research on Javanese dialect at Cilacap, Central Java, especially about lexical meaning and sound on the utterances, which is commonly used by the people of Cilacap in daily activity.
This study takes three research problems that are; What are the characteristics of the utterances of Javanese dialect in Cilacap, How does the people in Cilacap commonly use the utterances of Javanese dialect and How does the lexical meaning and sound commonly use by the people in Cilacap. ,This study is also attempts to describe the characteristic of the utterances of Javanese dialect in Cilacap, to know how the utterances of Javanese dialect commonly used by most people of Cilacap and to describe the lexical meaning and sound on Javanese dialect in Cilacap.
These study reveals that the characteristics of Javanese dialect at Cilacap are usde some articles, such as -lah, -na and -ne articles. The lexical meaning and sound of word, which is occurred in the utterances of Javanese dialect of Cilacap is divided into four categories that are the word which is have the same lexical meaning and different sound, the same sound and different lexical meaning, the same sound and lexical meaning, and different sound and lexical meaning. The results indicate that the utterances of Javanese dialect of Cilacap is dominated by -lah, -na and -ne articles, which are have different meaning and function on the utterances. The results may explain that there are many words, which are having different sound and the same lexical meaning. Most of words are occurred on the utterances of Javanese dialect at Cilacap are dominated by ,'a'' vowel. Besides that the results also indicate that he most people of Cilacap are commonly used ”Peasant Dialect” in their utterances and their style of Javanese dialect is used low level. It is suggested that the people must know detail about the article, kind and level of Javanese dialect, and the lexical meaning and sound. Because it often cause misunderstanding between two speakers who have different dialect.
